  • Awesome

I live on the beach and beat the hell out of this thing and it keeps going great little scooter and cool to cruise around on. The battery life is a little less than stated but we all know how that goes look at gas consumption lol. Oh and the bag I have on it is a must Amazon has that too.

  • Great time saver!
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
I use this for work while I'm door knocking in business complexes with external doors. Many of these businesses are closed and no one is there, so walking to a unknown locker door is time consuming and frustrating. This little scooter has changed my sales door knocking experience!... 80 doors a day easy!! It does have difficulty getting up steep hills, but for the most part, it's great! I'm 120lbs, however, me and my kids manage to get on it together and ride to our neighborhood clubhouse. That's about 200 lbs. Handles good, long lasting battery, easy to transport! It's been great! ... show more

  • Great for commuting
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D28U
Straight from the box I am enjoying this segway scooter (D28E) it feels sturdy and not cheap and as a 150 Ib male it holds me up very well. I use it to commute from my car to work which is about 2.5 miles in total and the battery life has been able to keep up with that just fine. I love the app feature that it comes with that provides more details about the product and overall I have had a positive experience the first week. However, it can struggle with up-hill areas as it can go slower, but it goes the full 15 MPH when it is relatively flat. On hills, it cuts down to 10 MPH even in sports mode. it does feel very smooth to ride in and it is genuinely fun. I would say this is a great scooter for communicating short distances, but it is not made for any long trips at high speeds. think about what you want out of a scooter and if you just want it for communicating this would be a great option. ... show more

  • Better than it’s counterparts!
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
I originally purchased a Hover scooter for my son to take to college. He has to go to the schools farm one or more times each day. It is more than a mile away and he often only has minutes to get there. So a scooter was the solution to get him there quicker, especially when it gets colder. That first scooter failed and the motherboard died less than a week of use. There were no falls or accidents. We returned it and decided to get the other scooter I had in my cart-the Segway! Not only has it been more durable, but it’s quicker and a better ride all around. It’s even easier to ride when he has to have his cowboy boots in. Win. Win. We only wish it was available in cool colors because my son doesn’t like to look like everyone else. I will be considering buying the same one for my daughter next year. ... show more

  • Whirring noise other Segway scooters don't have, etc...(otherwise 4-5 stars)
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D28U
Got it on sale, and it is almost perfect except for a few things. GRIPES: One is that (as others have stated), it was missing a US charging cord, BUT I own other Segway scooters and was able to use a cord from one of those. However, I think this is a common cord and for the price I paid (on sale ~$300), if I had to buy a cord to use with the charger that came with the scooter it would not have made me return it. However, again, the price now is close to $500 and I would be unhappy if I paid that price and did not receive the right cord. I THINK MAYBE BECAUSE THERE IS ALSO A D18E & D28E version also sold by Segway ("Euro" version) as the "U" (United States) version D18U/D28U, that perhaps they are mixing up the charger/cord packs at the factory between the two models Next and more annoying is the high frequency whirring noise it makes while running. This doesn't appear to be motor noise and instead (from my research) may be a noisy capacitor on the control board. I've seen others make this complaint on front motor Segway brand scooters, but I have multiple rear motor Segway scooters and they don't make the whir noise. AT FIRST, I was angry and almost sent it back because this was a Christmas gift for my daughter and both she and I hated the noise. However, we have other scooters to ride and this one was mainly to try out a front-motor scooter for the first time, and we decided we could just live with it verses the hassle of a return. But SERIOUSLY Segway, how about some quality control...I had an unhappy girl on Christmas morning because of this noise. BUT, the rest of the scooter is so well made, we were afraid a replacement might have had something different off-putting about it (or even the same issue), so we learned to live with the noise (not as annoying anymore) instead of doing the return. We mainly use this one for a short trip or as a loaner to friend and family. It is MUCH higher quality than another one we also got in same price range (sale price), so overall I guess it is worth it. If you do pay ~$450-$500 range for this scooter, make sure the one you receive is perfect, because that is getting into the cost of scooters that have longer range such as the Segway F2/F2 Plus, which is better than this one for not much more money verses what you get. And the last gripe isn't much of a gripe as it was expected, but as with most electric scooters, the range given isn't a practical range. The D28U version we got is supposed to go about 17 miles under perfect conditions. I think my wife got about 10 miles on a ride in "D" mode with a few hills and was down to 1 bar on the battery. I doubt it would have gone much further, but that is fine for the fun rides we do with family and friends and this scooter is perfect for an adolescent or teen to learn on, but still more than an inexperienced kid should be given. My daughter wears a helmet and has some experience with both kick and electric scooters already so this one wasn't too big. This one if given to an adolescent or teenager would be a good scooter to grow into if they were going to use it a long time since it is technically still a full sized scooter. Other Segways of this similar format come with self-healing tires (ninebot F2 series, FS-E, Max G2, etc.), so this one should be updated with that as standard equipment. LIKES: Multiple speed modes to leave room for a beginner to learn with in a safe manner. App, but that is with all Segway scooters so I won't go into it here in detail. Fast enough for an adult commute or joy ride in "S" mode, but just keep it less than 10 miles without planning to charge it (I would not recommend the D18U version at all, because of the range vs price). If they sold the D38U on Amazon, I may have even opted for it over the D28U if it was on sale). Front wheel drive scooter seems to climb hills (reasonable angle of course) better than the rear wheel drive versions. ALSO, I am a heavy rider and this scooter can haul me around and hit the max speed on level ground (with no wind). I also like the rear brake on this D series better than on the various other Segways with the same frame design (F2, etc.) but are front brake-only. It stops me better, BUT it is a little stiffer to pull for a kid or lady (but they won't notice it if they don't have a comparison). FINAL NOTES: This is a well-built and attractively designed scooter. I would have rated mine 5 stars for the sale price if it didn't have the whirring noise. I'd probably rate it 4 stars if I got it for a higher price and no whir. HOWEVER, I personally would not pay over $400 plus tax for it verses what you get (I've seen FS-E's on sale for $425 and they are better). If they could make the D38U for the same price as this D18 or D28, then you'd have a serious contender. Only reason to buy this one at full price is if you deliberately want narrower handle bars for a younger/female rider AND the control of front-wheel drive (best for beginner), AND don't need blinkers (which you don't if buying THIS scooter, because it isn't a true longer range street commuter). Those things, and the better brakes it has might make this a better beginner scooter than the F2 or other similar Segway scooters. But if you get it on sale, then go for it...hope you get a good one or return it until you do (but plan on getting the US cord)! I could go on, but I'm tired...cheers! ... show more

  • Decent value from trusted name brand
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
In the sea of no-name electric scooters, it was nice to find a recognizable and reliable brand. Ever since moving closer for work, I have used the scooter to commute without major problems. It is easy to use and easy to maneuver with. Total range depends widely on the hills (I'm in a hilly area) so my range will differ from flat ground. Solid amazon prime day deal! ... show more
