  • Slower and less range that the Max, but economical
For occasional community exploration, such as visiting the pool or navigating local streets, this electric scooter is a suitable choice. My previous Segway Ninebot Max, the company’s most powerful model, served me well for approximately five years. However, the battery deteriorated, and an accident due to a missed curb necessitated an upgrade. While I could have repaired the scooter, the time had come, and I opted for a slower model with reduced range. Despite its lower performance, it is still a Segway Ninebot product. While there are numerous high-quality scooters available, the Segway brand carries significant weight. The scooter’s app, while slightly imperfect, generally functions as intended. I have not found much use for the app. Upon initial use, riders must complete a tutorial to deactivate the scooter’s factory-imposed limitations. Once this is done, users can select their preferred mode. I typically maintain mine in the fastest mode. Several features of this East scooter are particularly useful. The integrated headlight and tail light enhance visibility, while the kickstand and display provide essential information, including distance, charge level, mode, and other relevant details. The scooter’s sturdy construction and folding design make it convenient for commuters. However, if a serious commuter requires extended usage beyond a few blocks each way, a more powerful Longer Range Segway Nine Max would be a more suitable choice. Unless you are on a tight budget, this electric scooter is a practical choice for most situations. I recall my experience living in New York City, where the primary concern was not range, as scooter riders typically used them to reach subway or bus stations rather than commuting directly to work. From there, they would carry their scooters into their offices or jobs, making the return trip a manageable five-minute walk or less. Additionally, electric scooters are particularly beneficial for commuters. They eliminate the need to arrive at work sweaty and uncomfortable, especially in office environments. Their compact size allows them to be stored conveniently in the corner of a cubicle, and they do not require parking fees, unlike bicycles. Furthermore, electric scooters do not demand physical effort, ensuring that commuters remain fresh and energized throughout their workday. ... show more

  • Great potential but weak battery
1 week in and I am loving it overall. I live just outside a small city with a decent bike infrastructure. So, not busy suburban roads (and sidewalks) and then a nice protected bike lane. 8 minute drive, 30 minute walk, or 15 minute scoot into work. On sport mode, 6.6 miles = 89% of the battery. So, my range is gonna be 8-9-ish miles on a full battery in sport mode. Speed and climb power ARE affected at low battery %. For what I need, this is fine. But if you're scooting from the burbs in DC or Seattle to your downtown job, you might want to consider a better battery or plan ahead and keep a charger at work. I don't want to do eco mode because My commute has small hills. Maybe I'll try it some day for fun. Also wouldn't recommend if you have steeper hills. I have regenerative breaking on the strong setting, but I don't know if I break enough for this to matter. Speed tops out at 15mph, drops to 8-12 depending on small hill grade. Now, I'm also 235 lbs, so maybe the battery doesn't have to work as hard for the petite among us. Build is solid. Suspension and tire make rides smoother. Price point is great ($250, used very good, $300 new) for a build of this quality. Hoping that name brand will equal easier to service than the cheaper Chinese brands with weird names. ... show more

  • The charger bent and the broke
I love the scooter. They are insanely fun to ride around town. But as you can see in this photo, the tip of the charger pulled out and bent upon insertion. I think it’s a defect. We have two scooters and use them daily. It didn’t happen with the other one though. In any case, be gentle with the charger’s connection. I’m reaching out to the company to see if they will replace it. ... show more

  • Doesn't do slope well or hills
Assembly was great, brakes are good, not a fan of the tires had to full them up as soon as it came outta the box. Performance was not want I liked at all, riding a straight line the item works okay, but a slope the item almost or just shuts down. Not a good deal for riding up hills. Probability is fine rode the train and strolled this around. It also has a slight noise where the back tire is located you can hear it as the speed increases. Overall you get what you pay for. Tires almost always stay flat but no punched pinholes ... show more
