  • Better than it’s counterparts!
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
I originally purchased a Hover scooter for my son to take to college. He has to go to the schools farm one or more times each day. It is more than a mile away and he often only has minutes to get there. So a scooter was the solution to get him there quicker, especially when it gets colder. That first scooter failed and the motherboard died less than a week of use. There were no falls or accidents. We returned it and decided to get the other scooter I had in my cart-the Segway! Not only has it been more durable, but it’s quicker and a better ride all around. It’s even easier to ride when he has to have his cowboy boots in. Win. Win. We only wish it was available in cool colors because my son doesn’t like to look like everyone else. I will be considering buying the same one for my daughter next year. ... show more

  • Awesome
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
I live on the beach and beat the hell out of this thing and it keeps going great little scooter and cool to cruise around on. The battery life is a little less than stated but we all know how that goes look at gas consumption lol. Oh and the bag I have on it is a must Amazon has that too.

  • Poor performance on hills
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
While there are some aspects of the scooter that impress me, there are also a few drawbacks that are worth noting. One of the biggest drawbacks I have encountered is that the battery drains faster than I would like. I find myself having to charge it more frequently than I expected, which is a bit of a disappointment. On the positive side, I am finding the ride itself to be quite comfortable. The scooter handles well and is easy to control, even at higher speeds. It offers a smooth ride, which makes my daily commute more enjoyable. I also appreciate that the tires did not need inflating during assembly, saving me some time and hassle. And the scooter's portability is a major plus - it folds up easily and can be carried when necessary. However, it is slightly heavier than other models I have used in the past. The biggest drawback of the scooter, in my experience, is its performance going up hills. Even on hills of moderate steepness, the scooter struggles and needs manual kicking to make it up. This can be a bit frustrating, as my daily commute includes several hills. Overall, I think that this scooter could be a good choice for some commuters, especially those who prioritize comfort and portability. However, the battery life and poor performance on hills are both significant issues that could be dealbreakers for some users. ... show more

  • Decent value from trusted name brand
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
In the sea of no-name electric scooters, it was nice to find a recognizable and reliable brand. Ever since moving closer for work, I have used the scooter to commute without major problems. It is easy to use and easy to maneuver with. Total range depends widely on the hills (I'm in a hilly area) so my range will differ from flat ground. Solid amazon prime day deal! ... show more

  • Wont start
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
Installed the app - why do I need an app. Charged the scooter, but it won't go when pushing throttle. Tried to do a kick start and push throttle - still won't go.

  • D18W is great value if you're only making VERY short trips.
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
I got the D18W because I recently moved near a cycling road and wanted something that would get me downtown and back (3.5mi one way, mostly flat, some short gentle inclines). According to Ninebot's site, D18W was rated for 11.4 miles with a 160lb person going 9MPH on a flat road. The main thing you need to know about electric scooters is that range will vary highly and it's hard to predict how your usage will scale. I give this a 1 star for commuting because 3.5 miles in nearly ideal conditions one way on "Drive" Mode (12mph) sent me from 100% charge to 48%. This meant I had to switch to "Eco" mode to get back, which took as you would expect 1.5 times longer. I'm a light guy (140lb) and didn't have a backpack or anything else with me. In all fairness, it did get me back home, but slower and with much less battery wiggle room than I'd like. The thing is? If you're using this as a last mile ride between your home, transit stop, and work, the D18W is good value at $300. The build quality feels really sturdy and not at all cheap. The folding mechanism is solid and I don't think this thing is going to come apart while you're riding it. If you're looking to close the gap between your stops, this thing will do the trick and you'll probably break even over those rental apps pretty quickly. For full transparency, I returned the D18W because the range wasn't what I expected from the description and it didn't fit my use case. But it did convince me to buy a higher end one with a longer range and more power. Other notes: Using the built-in lights uses power, and slows you down noticeably. Attaching external lights is a good idea. The vertical stem is a narrow shape (ellipse, not a circle), so keep that in mind if you want to use standard bike attachments. You have to sign up for the Ninebot app if you want to ride faster than 9mph. ... show more

  • Easy to assemble and very fun.
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D28U
Scooter was perfect for what I needed. I don’t have a long commute or anything but I ride it for a couple of miles every day just to feel the wind. Very fun. Better lasts long.

  • So far, I'm impressed!
Pattern Name: KickScooter Style: D18W
It's a fun scooter to ride, battery life is alright. The light is pretty bright and it's a straight forward to use. Rides well even in the rain. It doesn't do well on hills or speed bumps, so keep it on flat ground. Overall, it's a solid scooter.
