The satellite navigation is wholly unreliable. Do not let anyone convince you that it will become unnecessary. This system is entirely too temperamental. It needs to be close enough to the house but not too close. The RTK antenna--WHICH YOU WILL NEED NOT MATTER WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU-- then has to be a certain distance from the base station. Then, in fact we actually need a lot more wire. It's essentially impossible to station the device in your garage or other covered area and then deploy it when you're ready to cut the grass because of the signal demands. So your device will forever be outside uncovered. "But wait, it comes with it's own little garage to cover it from the elements", you say. (1) who wants to leave an expensive electronic device outside?!?!?; and (2) the need for the garage which they give you for free only proves the point that it is necessarily an outdoor device due to its reliance on signals. And then there's the software updates that take 8,344,526 years to update. I know it's tempting folks, but the technology isn't here yet. Just don't.

So far this is working well and I've had numerous neighbors stop and ask about it. I'm mowing the front lawn right now as I type this in my office. It mows, docks on its own, resumes mowing when its able, and does a good job. There are some lessons learned though that I thought I should share. 1. Buy bigger than you need -- I have about a 1/5 or 1/6 of an acre. The 1/4-acre model cannot mow the whole yard on one charge. I assume "up to a quarter acre" means a flat, square property 2. Plan out your initial mapping -- even then you might find you need to make changes once you see it in practice. Areas beyond a fence or otherwise not accessible to the home charging station need to be thought through. My station is in the backyard (the largest contiguous area) so I have the front mapped as isolated areas - I carry the mower there and then start the mowing (Mow-Start on the mower itself) 3. Cleaning underneath is important. Especially if you are mowing longer grass, it can be wrapped around the underside of the blades inhibiting their free movement and impacting their cutting efficiency. I've found that if you rotate individual blades clockwise, the grass wrapped up underneath will "unwind" itself, making cleaning easier 4. Sometimes GPS is weak and can lead the mower to be off by a few inches. Keep close watch when its mowing along a steep curve or map a few inches away from any areas where if its off a little bit it would be bad -- you can clean those areas up with your weed-eater later 5. The default mow direction is to change each time...but if you have a long, narrow spot, that can be very inefficient when its mowing side to side, constantly turning around. Rather, you can set a mow direction to go lengthwise every time -- do that and save a ton of time and battery 6. The app eats a lot of phone battery as it tracks the mower constantly. Close the app and look for the notifications that its done...or just check in periodically. 7. Use YouTube for help. Segway's videos arent that helpful, so try to find a third party video for better depth and better help.

I got this hoping it would be better than the “corded” version of my Landworx, but it’s been so frustrating. The app is confusing, the mower struggles to go from grass to concrete when docking, and it constantly aborts the schedule to mow because it has issues getting positioning anywhere even 10 feet from a tree, and misses sections of grass It’s too late to return it, but I completely would if I could. Also, this is something I’d rather buy from a big box store as the return would be easier. See photo: missed sections of grass; mower quit because it was “lifted” but it just couldn’t get onto its pad after a failed attempt to mow

The start of this purchase got off to a bumpy start. The firmware update that had happened that weekend (Friday I believe) caused me to be unable to use this mower. I got with customer service and was treated like a life long customer. Nothing could actually be done until the firmware update was fixed but they did everything they could in the moment to make it right so customer service was TOP NOTCH. The firmware updates since have been HORRIBLE but the mower is what you want to read about. It's been pretty amazing. I got the all terrain due to my yard having some of the worst trees on the planet. Gumball trees. This little mower struggles a bit but is able to get the yards mowed. The mapping is easy and kinda fun. I love that I can be doing anything else and mowing the lawn too. The only complaint I have at this point is the firmware updates I mentioned earlier. I work in IT and don't understand how they don't beta test these updates. The last one they did made my mower go waaaay outside the map and destroyed some flowers. I had to wait for the fix then delete all my maps and remap. So frustrating. Use a sandbox to test before releasing to the world. Please. Would I recommend this mower? Yes! It's been awesome and again customer service was the best I have ever dealt with. Thank you Ian and Nina. My chickens love it too.
