  • Very nice product overall, improving over time
Style: Mows up to 0.74 acre
The idea and value of this gadget is an A+ Execution so far I'd give it a B+ (updating to A after several weeks of constant use) Setup: B- I have a number of tall trees in and around my yard, though I still have areas that SHOULD be open enough to get a strong GPS signal. Initial setup was very tricky for it to find a signal - the provided antenna cable was too short so I had to buy an extender. Definitely buy one if you have a shady yard and will need to install your antenna in a different location than your base station. Once I got a signal driving it around the edge of the yard and marking off no go zones was a little tedious but not hard. The biggest annoyance was if you have a no go zone too close to the edge of the boundary it throws up an error saying you cant have a no go zone outside of the boundary. However you can pretty easily adjust your boundaries after you set it up the first time. Quality: A+ No issues seen so far, the build quality feels really solid, and the tires it comes with have more grip than I was expecting, and my lawn is looking really nice so far. Lots of compliments and curious questions from neighbors too. Wild life in the yard is unbothered too which is great. Software: A Really nice app and customization/management options. My only gripe so far was that when it wouldn't mow the lawn on the schedule I put it on, it didn't say it wouldn't go because of the rain sensor (still a little wet on top even though it wasn't raining) so I wasted a little time troubleshooting there. Otherwise it's really great. They also provide support, tutorials, and feedback options right in the app which I really appreciate, and it's easy to make boundary adjustments, schedule changes, and other customizations. Nice mowing report functionality as well. Performance: A It's a little early for me to tell here, so I may update this later but so far it's been running smoothly and is very quiet. I can't emphasize how much I appreciate the peace and quiet over having a standard mower going all the time. Lawn looks really nice so far as well, I'm only docking points because with all the little trees and a playground in my yard it takes a pretty long time to figure out the edges before it gets mowing steadily. That said I'm hoping it improves as it learns the yard. To be fair it hasn't gotten stuck on me once yet. Overall, I really like this as an auto mower option, it's a really nice competitor to the bigger players using GPS and RTK instead of a wire boundary. The bigger brands cost at least 2-3x what I paid for this. I also really love to see the amount of support this product is getting with frequent updates from the manufacturer - they really seem to be listening to product owners and evolving this product for the better. A year ago I would not have bought this based on reviews and lack of information but I can tell these guys are dedicated to making a good experience here and always improving it and I'm happy to join on that ride. ... show more

  • It Mows Well, Security PIN function could use some work.
I am very happy with the mowing part of this robot mower. Not so much with the company's idea of unit security. Pros: 1. Does not require a wire for guidance. You do, however, have to make sure you can run the power cord and GPS guidance cables from the "dock" to a standard power outlet, and be in the best position with the GPS pole to have your mower communicate with the satellite system, respectively. I don't have to worry about re-burying a guide wire (except the dock connections) if anything in my yard changes in the future, which is 90% of why I bought this particular unit. 2. Mows in straight lines and makes "lawn stripes" that look beautiful. 3. Alternates the path it takes to mow your yard from one complete cycle to the next, so your grass doesn't get "trained" in a certain direction or have the machine make a bunch of wheel ruts from turning at the same spots constantly. 4. Allows for non-scheduled mowing, and can "pick up" where it left off when the battery gets low and it has to go charge before it can finish the requested mow job. 5. It gets stuck a LOT less than my older robot mower. I am pleased with how few times so far I've had to go "rescue" this from a position it shouldn't have gotten itself into in the first place. 6. It can handle some thick grass! I have mostly St. Augustine where this thing runs, and when ran the first full cycle (after my old mower broke), it was pretty thick. I set up the boundary and there was NO hesitation on the part of this robot. It struggled a tiny bit maneuvering some of the thickest parts, but the 4-6 inch grass blades fell to it's determined onslaught. 7. Scheduling and mow height are easy to set and it's pretty simple for anyone with basic technical savvy. If you are technologically challenged, it might be a bit more difficult, but it should be good once you get it set. I haven't had it "forget" my settings yet, so that's a plus. Cons: #1!!! My biggest disappointment with this robot mower is the "security" features in comparison with my older robot mower. My old mower (which required a "guide wire") would secure itself with the programmed PIN automatically after a few minutes and not be able to have the settings changed or any inputs entered until an unlock PIN code was entered from on top of the machine (keypad entry). It would continue to do it's duty and mow the yard, though. It would "yell" with loud beeping if lifted or out-of-bounds until the code was entered, too. I could also change any of the settings from my app log-in without having to physically unlock the machine. This new unit's "security" involves a cell phone signal subscription I don't really want (although it's "free" for the first year) and a PIN code that locks ALL FUNCTIONS of the unit down so that the robot won't do ANYTHING when it's enabled. Even changing anything from the cell phone application isn't allowed until you physically walk to the machine and put in the PIN code to unlock it. That's just dumb. What's the point of a PIN code if all it does is make the machine inoperable? That's not security, that's just making it a pain to get your robot to do something useful. At least make it so you can use the app to "unlock" the mower from inside your house if you want it to resume it's duties! 2. The antenna wire is not very lengthy out-of-the-box. If you want to mount it higher (like on the side of your house) to help increase the GPS signal strength, you will need to purchase an extension cord and bury whatever length you need to get to the structure of the mounting surface from where you place the base. Not impossible, just tedious. I was lucky enough to have a "South-facing" yard, so the included length is plenty at ground-height mount. 3. Battery life on this thing is less than impressive. It has to go back at least 3-4 times to finish one full "sweep" of my yard, which with my programmed boundary is around 4600 ft of mowing per "run". I chalk that up to the constant GPS and cell signal "security" connections. I am in I.T. and although I can't say for sure, I can make some educated guesses as to what it has running. I do not know for sure how this thing is programmed to connect to the various signals it has available or if it has been programmed to discontinue searching for WiFi and Bluetooth signals once it starts a scheduled job or "one-time" job request. If it only enabled those items if/when it detected a problem, that would be better for battery life. 4. Mapping functions are tedious to set up (this is true despite my "CAVEAT" below) and it can get a bit persnickety about where you run the boundary. The wheels scrape various yard items that I set as "no-go" zones (tree and bush hardscape boarders, and the fence line in places). It can hang itself up if it turns a bit too sharp and then it resets by stopping the blades, backing up, moving a couple of FEET further down and a bit away, and then resuming the cutting blade action and trying to resume it's "path". It does NOT come back to try that "missed" area again later and leaves the section it "skipped" un-mowed. CAVEAT: I have not completely dialed-in my boarder due to an upcoming shed installation, re-doing some landscaping features, and moving around some decorative rock-scape materials (stacked 500 lbs worth next to my fence and have omitted that area from my current map boarder). I have also not yet used the boarder-line cardboard helper cutout to make sure I had the appropriate distance.. so some of this complaint is user error issue, NOT the mower's fault! Conclusion: Overall, this thing provides excellent results on the mowing part of the action. The scheduling is easy to follow and it has the usual features of detecting rain and returning to it's "home" dock when it does. It's not hard to change the cutting blades and a few are included as spares for the first change-out. I have enjoyed watching it work in such a methodical and steady way compared to my older "random pattern" mower. I really appreciate how nice it makes the yard look once it had completed a cycle. If it had the PIN code-enabled functionality of my older unit, this would be an ENTHUSIASTIC 5-star rating, but that lack of basic security functionality really detracts from the entire experience and it pulls it down to a 4-star rating, unfortunately. This thing is a hefty investment. I'm hoping it runs for at least 5 years. Can I recommend it? Yes.. It's still really good at what it's made to do... but if you don't have the money to spend on maintaining the security subscription it might be a bad buy if you live in a not-great neighborhood. If I had known the PIN didn't do anything helpful I would have picked a different machine brand. ... show more

  • If you are on the fence, buy this now!
Style: Mows up to 0.37 acre
Exceeded expectations in every way! Has saved me hours of my life and I love it, only issue is that it gets stuck in sandy spots very easily, and I have several of those, but you can map them out to avoid them while grass grows. Wish I had bought this years ago, it is the best thing I have bought all year for sure. Highly recommend you ditch your lawn mower for this! ... show more

  • Useful but takes a long time to map your yard
Positives: I like that it mows in straight lines. Perfect for my back yard. Frequent firmware updates to improve quality of life, such as now being able to use your phone to control it remotely to manually mow the grass. Negatives: One side of my house not able to get GPS signal since it's like 10 ft away from my neighbor. Tried for 2 days moving the station and antenna around but got nothing. Took days to map the boundary correctly. It would be nice if they had a function to choose two points on a map and automatically create a straight line. I had to redo it over and over again. Once set up, it's good though. I wanted to move my antenna to the top of the roof with the optional extension cable but then I have to redo the whole map so it wasn't worth it and wasted $50. The side of my house has a little incline and it can't make straight lines because gravity takes it down so it's jagged lines. You get 1 year of 4G network service. Wish it was longer, always afraid it might get stolen. Overall I wish the experience was better but with monthy updates, it might be worthy of 5 stars in the future. Edit: Updated to 4 stars. Their customer service is outstanding! ... show more
