  • Great performance for the price
Style: TinySA ULTRA
We used this SA to diagnose and correct interference from TV stations that was interfering with a wireless mic system. By seeing where the interference was, we were able to move our wireless channels around the problem areas. It works well in the handheld mode (easy to control the touch screen with the included stylus) and even better when connected through the PC app. The controls (frequency range, RBW, VBW) are straightforward and produce scans that compare with much more expensive SA's. The only problem we ran into was with the PC app: After changing a setting such as frequency or RBW/VBW we sometimes needed to restart the scan or power-cycle the SA to reconnect the USB port. Otherwise, though it works great and is a great value for the cost. ... show more

  • Great upgrade to the TinySA
Style: TinySA ULTRA
This is a great upgrade to the original TinySA. The bigger screen is much better for use, the case is way more professional and durable. Operation is improved in nearly every way. A lot of built in measurements have been included with the Ultra version. This one does appear to be a "Real one" and not a clone. I was able to burn the newest firmware in it and it seems to work fine. Inside the build quality is very nice with good soldering, etc. There seems to be good programming support with some easy to use Python code and a decent TinySA application (that you can also use to update the firmware). Overall - for the cost, I certainly would buy this again. Edit - I just completed a Measurement Level Calibration Verification against my calibrated 4 GHz Signal Generator. The TinySA Ultra meets specifications (quoted as +/- 2dB). My test setup has a measurement uncertainty of +/-0.5 dB not including mismatch error to the TinySA, so it did really well! (See attached figure). ... show more

  • I wish I'd had this for the last 20 years
Style: TinySA ULTRA
When I think of spectrum analyzers, I think of the $10k tool that I have to fight my co-workers to borrow. It's the one work tool I thought I'd never be able to just get my own that I could keep at my desk. I bought this assuming it would be kind of lame, but hoping it would at least let me see when my transmitter is on and the center frequency. It turned out to be a great tool. It's got a zero span mode, channel measurement with peak detect, a decent PC program it links to with USB etc... I love this thing! I'm an embedded software guy and not super technical with spectrum analyzers so I can't give you a full comparison of it VS our Rhode & Schwarz. It seems slower on screen refresh and I don't think it has as many options available for RBW and VBW, but it worked very well for the tasks I put it to and it's *easily* worth the price tag. ... show more

  • there is so much going on in this little box
Style: TinySA ULTRA
I will tell you; the instructions are horrible, this box needs a book written with the instructions in it, it has so many things going on and it grabs every frequency that is floating in the air and then some. As a ham radio operator, it has more thing going on than a big base station unit. I love it and I'm still learning how to navigate the unit. it is for sure worth the money to have even if you just want to listen. ... show more

  • Amazing Little Spectrum Analyzer
Style: With 50W Attenuator
I wanted to update my previous review on the TinySA. I received a replacement unit and this one work flawlessly. I took some readings using a Signal Hound SA and it come out with the same levels less loss with the cables. I wanted a unit that was portable and could be taken out in the field. I am very happy and give it 5 stars vs my previous 0 star rating previously. Look forward to learning more with all it's options. I enjoy all the You tube video's others have done on this unit very helpful. ... show more

  • THE NEXT best THING for a Ham after a NanoVNA!
Style: With 50W Attenuator
So, you have your VNA to have your antennas and filters tuned and ready to go, the Tiny SA is the next tool for your workbench. With the included 25-watt attenuator, you can measure the RF performance of your handi-talkie. If you dial-down the output of your mobile or base rig or add a larger attenuator, you can do the same. Have RF noise in your home or shack from a wall-wart or LED light, plug in the included whip antenna and go on a fox hunt for noise. This is a great tool for the shack and workbench for the intermediate technical person. This unit is everything I expected with sufficient cables and accessories to get started. Battery life is good. The app is good as well. Spend some time with the SA and the app. It's worth it. This is a great device for the $$ I RECOMMEND! ... show more

  • I guess you get what you pay for
Style: TinySA ULTRA
The UI in this is horrible. Touch screen is terrible. Unreliable and unpredictable. It wants to only go to 800 MHz. To get it to go further, you have to set start and stop. But when you set them, it's still stays at 800 MHz. I'm having a heck of a time getting this thing to function properly. Also it is so slow that it's missing pulses. It was on sale I guess meh. I don't recommend this as an actual tool. But as a toy it's great. It's accuracy is also in question to me. I need to be able to touch the point that I want or move the cursor to it to know the frequency but I'm having difficulty with that too ... show more
