- FILTRATION: Purigen ranges in color from almost white (cream) to light yellow. Seachem Purigen is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water
- SELECTIVITY: Seachem Purigen is an organic filtration resin that works hard to remove nitrogenous compounds and waste produced by fish, corals, and even plants, making your water crystal clear.
- CAPACITY: Being both spherical and macroreticular, Seachem Purigen has microscopic pores that increase its usable surface area to many times that of a purely spherical resin.
- REGENERATION: Once Seachems Purigen is exhausted, it can be regenerated with a solution of bleach and water. The bleach will literally burn off the organics that have been removed from the tank.
- SAFETY: Some slime coat products may permanently foul Purigen and render regeneration difficult. Do not reuse if odor of bleach/chlorine is detectable. In case of doubt, soak beads in small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with a chlorine test kit.

I have a 10-gallon tank and put two largish pieces of mopani wood in it. I didn't do any proper research on how to prep the mopani wood, and a few days later the water in my tank was tea brown. I came across this as a recommendation for removing the tannin and within a few days the water went from dark tea brown to crystal clear. I will definitely use this again if I set up another tank. Lesson learned; if you are considering using mopani wood for your tank, be sure to boil the wood for several hours first to leach as much of the tannin out prior to placing it in the tank. This will avoid a good amount of the tea brown coloring that happened to mine.

Had struggled with milky bacteria bloomy water for about 2 months with no successes, in fact I'd say it got worse and worse over time. Finally tried some purigen that I just tossed on top of my bio-media in my HOB (following the direction I rinsed and soaked it in tap water first). Picture 1 is what the water looked like as I tossed it in. Picture 2 is about 12 hours later the next morning. And Picture 3 is now, 5 days later. Water has never been more sparkly, and it was such a cheap and easy change. No more cloudy water ever I guess.

I had tried many other methods of clearing tannins from my tank, including daily water changes in my 40 gallon aquarium, 3 different filters, different media, etc. Then I heard about this product, and in desperation bought it as my final effort before scrapping the tank setup and starting again. I put the resin in my filter in addition to the media that was already there at 3:30pm, and at 9am the next morning when I looked at the tank it was completely clear. Not 99% clear... It was 100% clear. Its rare to see a product deliver so much better than expectation! Thanks, SeaChem! I highly recommend this to anyone dealing with tannins in their water!

I have used a Purigen packet in my aquarium filter for years. It definitely improves water quality resulting in clearer water and less algae. I can see the difference on the rare occasion I don't have any.

This was a easy add to my aquarium filter, I’m new to freshwater aquarium fish. I cleaned my filter, washed the Organic Resin bag, and placed it in the filter with my other Seachem product. I could see an almost instant result. So easy!
