    • Get this if you want to save money but you're okay figuring out things yourself
The instructions? Not so great. The product for the price if you're willing to accept that you're kinda on your own? Great! If you're living in place where you probably shouldn't be running a laser cutter, like an apartment, this thing is amazing. Sure, you could get a bigger work area in an open design. And you could handle your own venting, air filtration, eye protection, and dedicate an entire desk-sized area to it if you were so inclined. But if you want something that fits into the form factor of an inkjet printer and doesn't set off your smoke alarm, this thing's awesome. It even comes with software that basically makes it so that you can design your stuff in Photoshop and avoid learning actual 3D design software if you can grasp the idea of grayscale for depth of cutting. Sure, you'll have to experiment to get a feel for the thing. But if you're looking for what's basically the Harbor Freight of laser cutters: it's this gadget. It'll get the job done if you're willing to get inventive and work within the constructs of a 5"-ish square area that you can piece together into something larger. ... show more

    • Takes a lot of guessing but it works
The manual and website for the engraver is pretty lacking in terms of how to work so it has been a bunch of guessing and wasted materials to figure it all out but once you do, it works great. The app is weird too. I wish there had just been included software.

This engraver may be an outstanding instrument, but the instructions for use and the iOS app are worthless.
