This fit fantastic in my 09 sport. Matches the grey very good. Take your time and itll be fine when install. If your rough it will snap easy. Had it for over a year and quality is still as day i bought it good material. Good for the money and fit my kenwood radio perfect.

  • Buy this instead of Metra...
Style: Kit
Fits almost perfectly in my car. I have no idea why the Metra kit was ever here or on Crutchfield. Spend the couple extra bucks on this one... So the Metra kit was recommended for my 2012 RAV4. The cutout was too small, and the brackets didn't connect to the cutout so there was a gap between the radio and the cutout. Overall, terrible design. This one on the other hand almost feels luxurious in comparison. ... show more

  • Worked fine for a 2009 RAV4, same bottom gap as others have mentioned
Style: Kit
I'd like to start off by saying that I've been doing car stereo installs for nearly 2 decades now, and I've worked on installs much more difficult than this one that included not only the head units, but also speakers, amps, capacitors, subs and other A/V. I'm no stranger to this type of install. Quite frankly, the RAV4 install is one of the easiest and most straight forward you will run into. You literally pop off the two flanking panels, pop off 2 connectors, unscrew 4 bolts and that's it for panel removal. You simply couldn't ask for easier. Like, almost ever. That said, you'd imagine it'd be quite easy to make dash kit very easily. Well, yes and no. Scosche tends to make stuff that fits fairly well and usually does a good job of making it look factory-ish. This kit was one of their very few units that doesn't fit as flush and perfectly as I've dealt with before. When you first take it out and assemble it, it's slightly confusing when reading the instructions. It makes it sound like the brackets click right in when in all reality, they actually "sit" in grooves very floppily...and then you have to install the screws in the aftermarket unit and THAT will help to permanently seat those brackets. Make no mistake...they do NOT click into place on their own. Quite the liberal use of the word. A few words about this kit. First off, using plastic brackets wasn't smart. A lot of your installed panel gap issues span from that in itself. Second and more importantly, there is a bracket arm missing from the Scosche unit that WAS on the factory bracket. If you look at my side-by-side picture, you can see on the bottom of the factory bracket that there is an arm that goes back with a clip on it. You'll notice next to is that there's no such arm on the Scosche. They likely did this since it's not bolted on but instead has a clip. Quite frankly, Scosche isn't really into the clips and that's likely why they didn't bother with it. Sadly, that arm is what helps to take up the slack on the bottom of the dash mount, and without it, it's practically impossible tuck that gap in tightly. There's simply nothing there to pull that panel tight. As others have mentioned, to help with the gap at the top, you want to insert the 4 bolts into the aftermarket holes and tighten them just slightly, then give them a half turn back, push the bracket itself in the top-most position and tighten the bolt WHILE holding it there. Do this for ALL 4 bolts. This will ensure you don't have a gap at the top. You can push and adjust and re-do it as many times as you like, but you will never close the gap on the bottom 100%. It's just an inherent flaw in the way that the kit was designed to fit. Most people will NEVER notice that gap unless you point it out since it's so low, but it'll still be there. My other (slight) gripe about the kit would be the color off-set. Everyone seems to be claiming that this is very close to the factory color, but I think that's some kooky talk. I've included 2 pics of the factory and aftermarket fascia for comparison. Don't even try to tell me those are even close to the same shade. In face, I find that the Scosche is almost closer to the color of those 2 silver panels you snapped off to make the install (with the diff and hazard buttons). Still, all that said, it doesn't look WAY out of place or anything, it's just not the same. Aside from the issues listed above, I was happy with this kit. I know it sounds like i'm ripping it apart and being picky, but it's in my nature to be. Since it does securely hold the unit and doesn't creak or make noise, it's functionally solid and serves it's purpose. Still, I have to ask...how much more would it have possibly cost Scosche to simply make the brackets metal? Or perhaps make that extra arm extension to close that gap? Or perhaps try to color match without your eyes closed? A solid kit with a few fundamental flaws. Still, I think it's better than the 2 other brands being offered for the RAV4. ... show more

4-1/2 stars. I'm very please with the end result. There's a pair of very small indents in the upper corners, and the colors aren't a perfect match, but once it's all installed I don't notice. One gripe about the install - the sides that are supposed to "snap in" didn't want to stay snapped in. Once I bolted them to the lower tray everything was fine, but if you were doing a bigger unit (no tray) it would probably be easier with a second pair of hands. I didn't need to strap up the back of the head unit. Just found some screws (carreful with the length) to secure the sides of the dash kit to the sides of the head unit. Solid. I personally like the colors and am impressed with the fit and finish for a relatively inexpensive after-market piece. ... show more

  • Looks like oem!

Same comments as others. Takes a little finesse getting all the pieces together but it’s not hard. Looks great in the dash. Looks like what would have been there if Toyota had sold the RAV4 with the Pioneer stereo that we installed.

  • Check Your Kit Before Installing
Style: Kit
First kit I ordered was clearly not correct, which was bizarre - it was unopened, and had the right part number. Curiously , I ordered the exact same thing again, along with a different kit from a different manufacturer as a back up, and the second kit I ordered was correct. Again - these were sealed bags with the exact same part number…yet two different kits. Installed the second, correct kit without an issue. It was a bit tight and had to fine tune the fitment, but no big deal. Returning the first kit. Leads me to believe there’s some questionable quality control. In the picture, the kit on the right is the correct one. ... show more
