I'm not sure what the problems were with others....I read the negative reviews first!....Took a chance on the Scosche dash kit. The radio bezel that came with the kit fit a bit too tight so I had to trim it a bit, no big deal. I bought the Pioneer FH-S722BS Double Din CD Receiver and the fitment was perfect. Yes, the Scosche isn't textured like the original, and the color is slightly darker.....But as you can see in the picture I included, it all came together nicely, and it looks good, the color and fit are great!!

Perfect fit and color match, reuses your metal oem brackets

This Scosche double din kit is nice looking and perfect fitting in the 05-11 Tacoma. I had the free double din Metra kit for 2 years, but ended up losing the clips after a handful of removals. And I never was satisfied with the Metra fitment and it’s strange bezel ring. Or the hazard button and clock fitment (button would stick). Or the cheap looking copied golf-pip texture. This Scosche kit reuses the panel clips from the stock radio, so don’t sell or throw away the old radio. As a hidden bonus, the universal plastic brackets aren’t needed... the steel stock radio brackets can be reused, so you get 100% secure and perfectly aligned radio. The radio bolts in place first, then the Scosche kit simply clips on perfectly. No gaps, no flexing or creaking like with the Metra kit. The only thing I don’t like is the flimsy trim ring...it doesn’t fit well, and it’s thin, so it flexes inwards on the top and bottom, but it’s not really noticeable. Unfortunately my Alpine’s trim ring doesn’t fit without modification, this is minor. The color match is great. It’s 100% matches the grey hazard button, and the grey vent surrounds. The instructions are pretty terrible, but DIY audio fans don’t really need instructions. Very pleased with kit at the price I paid.

great fit, but low end plastic

Typical dash kit, nothing spectacular about it. Much easier to use & install than the ones you'll find for a Ford F series! It fits well, holds the aftermarket receiver adequately, feels fairly snug, doesn't jiggle & squeak like all the other plastic (yet), and was very simple to install. The factory controls for the 4-ways snapped right into place, 4 factory bolts to hold it lined up fine. As others have stated there isn't any texture and it's the wrong shade of gray. Personally, i prefer the lack of texture as it's easier to clean. And I can handle the color as the black kits I've seen by Scosche tend to show every little mar & imperfection & strain from bending when installing. I would prefer to have this done in a higher quality material, but that wouldn't fit well with the Scosche business model. Between the materials used for this, and Toyota's poor design, it would be insanely simple to pull this system in under a minute for even an amateur.

Fit perfectly on my 2006 Tacoma. I was a bit skeptical because I had to take out 5 screws on my old hazard light/clock but this dash didn’t have holes for those screws. Luckily, that old base was removable and it fit perfectly into the new dash after removing it. The clips aligned and it snapped into place. I like how it now color matches. Took about 15 minutes, including removing the hazard light/clock piece. My radio is a bit uneven but even then; the dash fit into place without issue.

Great Fit

I had another cover installed and it continually shifted and squeaked. It got very annoying to the point I would hold the cover while driving. I needed something better and this fit the bill. Installation was not very easy, but you just need to be patient. The directions were good and walked you through the process. Most importantly, NO MORE RATTLE!! It is a tight fit and holds everything well. Make sure you keep the plastic clips, or order new ones, as they do not come with the cover. The color and texture is a little off, but again, the is no longer a rattle.

Prefect fir & OEM look 2005 Tacoma

This adapter (my personal opinion) is hands down the cleanest and best head unit mount you’ll find for the 2nd gen tacoma. It clips right in and the bolt holes align well with the stock dashboard bracket. Makes for a clean head unit. I went with the grey, as it matches the rest of the dash. The black appears to look like it’s primed and not painted. Gray looks better all day. Plastic feels a bit flimsy so handle/install with care.

Texture Doesn't Match Factory Part

This product is just "OK". The color is a reasonable match for the factory silver-gray on my '07 Tacoma, but the factory piece is textured and so is the panel behind the climate control knobs. The piece I received is smooth, so it won't match the panel below it in color or texture. Minus 2 stars.

Good enough for me

This is a good product for anyone who has a tacoma and doesn't like the stock stereo. It doesn't match exactly (the color is slightly darker than the factory plastic) and it doesn't have the texture of the factory plastic; however, if you notice in your truck, the moldings left and right of the stock stereo are smooth so not having the texture really isn't an issue at all. The clock/hazards button fits perfectly in the bottom of this bracket and it fits right in the dash using the same bolts you take out to get the factory radio out. Just an FYI, the install instructions are EXTREMELY vague. You will need to take the little plastic tabs (they were yellow on my 08 tacoma and there are 5 of them) off of the stock bracket and place them on the new bracket (it will become obvious when you have them out of the truck side by side). I sat for a good 45 minutes trying to get my Kenwood 6160 mounted and just about threw the thing across the room until i finally figured out a way to get it mounted without showing any spaces between the mount and the stereo. Just be patient and you will get it to work. A universal mount is kind of like an el camino... okay for everything but not great for anything. I hope this helps you decide (I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one and install it again if i had another taco!)
