Who doesn't like cruising along the beach with a bike for a relaxing ride with an excellent view? Along with biking at the beach, nothing more classic comes to mind than a cruiser... Naturally, I got this for my wife -- the 3-speed, Navy one -- so she could join my son and I, though I prefer riding on my Santa Cruz Heckler mountain bike. PROS - Easy assembly (took about 35 mins) - Classy, vintage look - Front and rear fenders to keep dirt from kicking up - Shimano drivetrain and internal hub (only comes with the 3-speed model) to keep dirt and dust out of the gears - Twist gear shift to make it easier for beginning bikers - Rear coaster brake (pedal backwards to slow down), though that wears down your rear tires faster - Padded springer saddle for better comfort - 17" frame with 26" wheels fits adults between 5'4" and 6'2" - Limited lifetime warranty CONS - Manual could use some additional, detailed instructions, but I have to admit: I only looked at the pictures to double check that the washers were put in the correct order - Part of the frame (where the front wheel mounts onto) was partially bent during shipping. I had bent it back straight, and it works fine. - No quick-release lever for the seat for quick height adjustments SEAT ADJUSTMENT TIP Many people do not know how to correctly adjust the seat height for their body. As a result, they may be biking inefficiently, increasing overall fatigue. To find the correct seat height: 1. Put one foot on the pedal and rotate the pedal until it points straight down (at the 6 o'clock position). 2. Locate the top of your femur bone (the hip bone), the bottom of the femur (that side knob around the middle of the knee), and the ankle ball. 3. The angle between the 3 points (hip, knee, and ankle) should be at 30 degrees. 4. Adjust the height of the saddle until the angle becomes the optimal 30 degrees. For each 1mm height you adjust, that equals to a 1 degree angle between the 3 bone points. Happy riding! ... show more

A neighborhood friend of mine, Debo, had asked to borrow my bike but ended up taking a really long time to return it. After my father found out, he became concerned and drove me to retrieve my bike, even though I was not conserned. My friend initially didn't know which bike I was referring to. I reminded him that it was the beach cruiser I let him use couple weeks ago and had made several attempts to retrieve. Apparently my friend was unaware that I had wanted my bike returned. I let my buddy know that, although I was not concerned, my father and I shared ownership of the bike but it was kept in my home. My buddy seemed to understand my predicament but the encounter abruptly ended violently. ... show more

Got it on 3 16 put it together (easy) on around 3 29 went to ride on 4/2 (GLAD IT WAS NOT APRIL 1 ST ) Front brake lever snapped , did not save the box or I would ship it back . I will call Schwinn tomorrow , hoping the vendor will see this and help . beyond disappointing.

I just came from a bike ride and overall I would say it is quite of a smooth and easy ride. I got the 3 gear. Peddling was a breeze. I rode it at 1st gear because of hilly sidewalks. But on level ground 2nd gear was acceptable as well. Bike looks awesome in matte black. Lots of head turns while I rode it. I added a cheap front black headlight, tailight and spoke reflectors for visibility at dusk/night. I didnt rate any stars for assembly because I had a bike assembling expert do it for me for 55 bux!!!! Sweet purchase. Will ride it for years to come! I say go for it and BUY IT!!!! ... show more

I rode the bike approx 12 times.....Im a 65 yr old man so I was riding at a very leisurely pace and definitely not jumping curbs etc. After about a dozen rides the sprocket kind of fell apart and now Im facing a repair charge. Not very happy

Really good quality bike for the money. Well built and exactly the simplicity I was looking for. Arrived super well packaged in perfect shape. The assembly was simple, seat, handle bars, pedals, and front wheel. Having a good set of box wrenches since multiple sizes are required and the right sized allen wrench helped speed things along. No plans to ride it on wet road conditions so opted to leave the front fender off, and removed the already installed rea fender r - giving it a tougher, even more minimalist look. Went with the 1 speed and coaster brake model, rides very nicely. Easy pedaling on roads with some modest hills. Purchased a water bottle holder and under seat bag and those installed smoothly. Was plesantly surprised to see it did have a kickstand, though the picture looks like it doesn't. Super pleased with the bike, good quality for the price, and highly recommend if you're looking for a simple cruiser bike for getting some exercise around the neighborhood. ... show more

One of those 'wonderful' experiences you have to share. Bike delivered as promised, in perfect condition. After easy assembly, I did find the rear tire was defective. It was not balanced and scraped frame on on one side for 6 inches or so. An actual rare factory defect. Two, count 'em, TWO days later a replacement tire was on my doorstep!! My only regret was not buying a 3-speed as these old legs are taking time getting used to a single speed <smile>. ... show more
