  • Works well for me - easy to set up
I've used this device for three days. This product was just as I had hoped for, with regard to two individually operated outlets. It doesn't cover the other outlet, as other reviewers have pointed out. I downloaded the Satechi app from Apple for installation (iOS for iPad). Set up was very easy. The device was running in 4-5 minutes. The instructions mention to turn off 5GB wifi on one's router before installing, which I did. After installation was completed, Siri commands work as expected. My only question is for the company: How do I update the firmware? I found the "details" button for the device, which shows the firmware as v. 3.3.6. But how do I know that this is the latest version? I can't find an update button on the app to confirm. I'm happy with the product. ... show more

  • Homekit Buddy
I have purchased several of these over the past couple of years to control our holiday lighting via Apple Siri and HomeKit. Great to say in the evening “Hey, Siri, Christmas on” and all the lights in the house and outside come on. Same with turning them off. Saves having to spend 5-10 minutes going room-to-room and outside and turning lights on or off. For HomeKit users, I recommend this highly. Easy to set up (go to HomeKit app, add accessory, scan the QR code in the provided manual, and complete the setup. Easy-peasy! ... show more

  • Homekit Compatible Plug
It took a bit of fiddling to get the plug to work with Homekit (why I only gave it 4 stars), but once it was set up, it worked flawlessly. I can control the outlets individually, and add them to automations. There are also physical switches on the device, which is a nice advantage over the competition. The plug is a bit bulkier than the competition, but the competition refused to connect to Homekit no matter what . Overall, I recommend this device and am pleased with it. ... show more

  • Can't even send notifications to report power status
I was looking for a smart home plug to replace my second WeMo Insight that died (that's the second one in two years, so caveat emptor: WeMo Insights have a really short lifespan), and this one seemed like it might do the trick. Installation and set up in the app was quick and easy. It was also quick and easy to see that the only way you could find any information about power usage was to open the Satechi app. It doesn't even report in use/not in use status with Apple HomeKit the way the WeMo Insight does. So it's obviously possible to have that functionality, but that might actually take some programming that goes above and beyond checking a feature list item. Why is it useful to know whether the switch is in use/not in use (which is not the same as on/off, it's more like, drawing power/not drawing power). It's useful for reporting when appliances that are doing stuff for you have completed their chore. Like the clothes drier for example. Using the WeMo Insight, when the clothes drier completed its cycle, the WeMo app would send me a notification that the switch was no longer in use (not drawing power), so I knew the load had finished. Likewise, the Insight and the WeMo switches are supported on IFTTT, so I could run some automation integration with HomeKit, like playing a "drier finished" tone on my HomePods to alert me to the fact that the drier had stopped. It's too bad. The Satechi switch seems really well built, and heavy duty enough to last. But as often happens with hardware companies, they fail to recognize the potential value of taking the software to the next level of functionality. In their rush to get a well built hardware product into the world and start making sales, they deliver something run by software that's not truly useful to their target market. Then they end up having to turn that sale into a refund. ... show more

  • Smart outlet without a hub!
I've been waiting for a decent priced smart outlet for a couple of appliance we have. If you're planning on purchasing this make sure that you create a 2nd SSID on your wifi network with just 2.4ghz enabled. I had trouble trying to configure it through my normal SSID with 2.4ghz and 5ghz turned on. It simply did not work, Works flawlessly once I created a 2.4 only network! • Best and (only) dual smart outlet for Apple HomeKit!
Pros: Dual individually controllable outlets! HomeKit certified Has manual on/off toggle for each outlet Energy consumption monitor App is great when working too Cons: App is spotty - what I mean is until a recent update it wouldn’t open (just crash). The app when working is much better than the competition UI (design) wise. ... show more

  • Buggy HomeKit integration. Definitely not perfect.
Pros: Fast on/off Cons: Manufacturers app is missing some logic. I can set different schedules for same outlet from iPad and iPhone and have now idea which it right one. Nether one see other schedule. Besides iPad app doesn’t have landscape mode so impossible to use if iPad is a Hub and attacked to the wall horizontally. ... show more

  • Worth It!!!
There’s a lot of smart plug options out there, but this ones well worth it. Had no issues setting it up and is working perfectly so far. Priced a little higher than others out there but adds an extra outlet that can be controlled individually and it monitors energy use in real time.
