This is a good device if you want only USB-A in a clean and easy to reach hub with integrated SD/mSD card read/write capabilities. While connected to a PCIe 3.1 card in a MacPro it was recognized as a "USB 3.1 Hub" + "USB Storage" PROS: - Small and easy to use, takes up very little desk space and allows for easy access to all ports. I prefer its angled design to the regular flat desk hubs that you always have to pickup to insert anything into them. - Nice finish in mate silver - 3 easily accessible USB-A 3.1 slots (horizontal layout) - Practical dual slots for SD and mSD cards - Available in options with either a USB-A or USB-C uplink/connection cable, about 12" long. CONS/Wishlist: - Cannot use the SD & mSD slots at the same time! Very disappointing! - So you cannot copy from one SD card to the other! This is in the description but I missed it, until I tested and went back to check. - It's very lightweight so will not stay in place easily. Should have been heavier. - There should be a version with at least one USB-C port. - Would have loved a gunmetal finish option as well, to better match newer Macs - The USB-A ports should be vertical not horizontal to allow larger plugs/USB sticks. - Would have preferred USB uplink cable sockets instead of a fixed cable. - Would have loved a small led to indicate the hub is connected and operational, ideally one under each slot to show when in use. Overall I am mostly disappointed I did not read and notice the lack of simultaneous SD cards support. ... show more

Did hunt bit for this particular model due to the design, it has a beautifully design alu casing that gave a premium feel to the product. while i am an advocate for shorter cable for less clutter, this particular cable is a twinge too short if connected to desktop PC but will otherwise be great for laptop usage ... show more

Just the right amount of heft to stay put on the base of my new iMac. Cable is perfect length for connecting to one of the onboard USB ports. As a photography hobbyist I used the SD reader slot of my old iMac all the time, but in the new model it has moved to the rear. That was the first feature I tested after connecting it out of the box. I already knew from other reviews that the SD card must be inserted label-side down. The card went in with just the right amount of pressure to let me know it had seated correctly. Surprisingly, mounting time, read and copy times are all much faster with this hub than with the built-in reader slot on the iMac. It even ejects faster. I love that. The $30 price point felt just a tad high, but now that it's in service, I'm loving this little ninja of a hub/reader. ... show more

Got it because my new M1 iMac Has no USB-A ports or card readers. Looks great sitting in the curve of the stand. I wish it came with a USB-C plug so I didn't have to use an adapter.

It arrived quickly and it works well. Definitely comes in handy for my Surface Laptop that only has one USB port. This allows me to plug 3 in at one, a full-size SD card, and micro size. The ports seemed a tad bit stiff to get my stuff into at first but all is good. I did notice when I tried to plug my iPhone cable into it I got a 'power surge warning' on my laptop saying it wasn't powerful enough to output. I also noticed a couple of cosmetic scratches on it. It almost made me wonder if this was a refurbished or returned one. They're super minor but noticeable when inspecting it. Still, it works great and I'll probably invest in this company for feature peripherals for my setup and tech life. ... show more

This unit is well built, works great, and I like the fact that the chord is built into the unit. The cord on a similar unit I purchased a few weeks back would disconnect when unit was bumped. The only gripe I have is that I wish the cable was a bit longer. I ordered a usb 3.0 extension cable, and that took care of that problem. I also wish the SD cards didn't insert in the upside down position, but that's just being picky. :) 3/18/2018 Okay, I'm back with a few additional comments. For whatever reason, this unit does not read my sd cards nearly as fast as another similar but different brand/unit I purchased on Amazon prior to this purchase. I purchased the Satechi unit because the cord on the first unit would disconnect with the slightest movement or bump. What a bummer. Not sure why this Satechi unit is slow as molasses, comparatively speaking. ... show more
