  • Works with USB-C ethernet adapter and Sidecar to iPad Pro.
Style: Data Transfer
I figured I'd be hosed trying to find a USB-C hub with 4 USB-C ports and have it work with what I need. Well, this hub does the trick and is nowhere near the cost of higher end hubs that fail to deliver. I've used the OWC Thunderbolt hub and it works great, only it is too big and bulky to carry all the time. I needed a way to expand the lame two USB-C ports on my M1 Macbook Pro and maintain some (most) of the functionality the OWC hub gives me. My priorities were: 1. Extra USB-C ports. 2. Ability to Sidecar to my iPad using USB and not wireless. 3. Work with a USB-C to ethernet adapter. 4. Keep costs below $75. This hub gave me all of that and, including the cost of the ethernet adapter, I got what I wanted for less than fifty bucks. Yeah, it might not be the fastest transferring files, its unable to passthrough charge, and you can't connect a monitor to it (well, you can but it won't work). It suits my needs though and as a bonus it charges my iPad while I'm using it as a second screen. Now I have a lot less clutter at work and four pounds less weight to drag around with no loss of functionality. I'd call this great bang for my bucks. ... show more

  • Does exactly what I need it to do.
Style: Data Transfer
As stated in the headline this item does exactly what I need it to do; namely it gives me 4 USBC ports for my desktop instead of the one that I have currently. Price was reasonable considering its a niche products that works well, and the build feels quality.

  • Update on Great little guy doesn't work on new m3 Mac
Style: Data Transfer
Update. 2024. Got a new apple m3 max and this hub stopped working. Had to buy the Belkin hub that works. Crazy. Well made and transmits MIDI as a musician and i can connect many keyboards simultaneously. That's what I needed for my studio and it delivers in spades. Only had it for a day and connected 3 4 tb hard drives and it performed admirably. Every port is functional. I'll update later if needed. ... show more

  • Very good with externals!
Style: Data Transfer
I wasn't sure this would have to be sent back or not to Amazon. I have 8 external hard drives, 2 printers, Casio keyboard, computer keyboard, mouse, mic, etc. to plug into my iMac. The Satechi hub took a USB-C external drive and another hub plugged into it. The external plugged into the Satechi hub is supporting 3 USB devices and I can load in my SD card for transferring pictures to the computer! It was more the most mini USB hubs in price but well worth it for doing the job! ... show more

  • works as advertised, and more
Style: Data Transfer
This is a simple and attractive USB C hub that works perfectly in my Studio Display and M2 Mac mini. Satechi is clear that the hub won't charge, but, indeed, it will charge low power-need devices such as an iPhone or Apple Watch or iPad. (The cord could be a bit longer for my needs, but otherwise a terrific device for the money.) ... show more

  • Stopped working after 18 months and disconnects drives randomly
Style: Data Transfer
I purchased this for my M1 MacBook Pro to connect two external drives. This hub seemed to work fine, except for the fact that it would randomly disconnect the drives. I then get the messages that the drives were not ejected properly. Started almost immediately after I started using this hub. After about 18 months, it stopped working completely, MacBook just would not see the external drives. Replaced it with the UGREEN USB C Hub 10Gbps, 4 Ports USB 3.2 Adapter with 4 USB-C 3.2 Ports, which so far works great. No random disconnects. Too bad, because I liked the form factor, very slim and tucked away nicely... ... show more

  • Works, but man it is SLOW
Style: Data Transfer
TL/DR review follows: This thing does what it claims to do (gives you 4 USB ports that you wouldn't have otherwise), but the data transfer speed of any SSD I connect through this Satechi Hub is half what it is when the SSD is connected via my OWC Hub (data transfer rate is double when connected via the OWC Hub vs. being connected via the Satechi Hub). I'll keep this Satechi gadget (in a drawer) for times when I really, really need more USB C ports and therefore will be more willing to tolerate the data transfer speed slowdown penalty. I cannot possibly consider this to be a primary data transfer pathway however. These above results are from an M1 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM and MacOS Monterey with speed measured by Blackmagic Disk Speed Test utility. I did not get similar results on my 11th Gen Intel Core i9-11900 processor PC running Windows 11. Data transfer rates are the same (SLOW) when any USB drive is connected directly to the PC USB C port or when connected via the Satechi Hub. Highly worth mentioning, though, is that all data transfer speeds on the PC are HALF the speed obtained on the Mac Mini when connected via my OWC Hub. All PC data transfer rates were measured by CrystalDiskMark utility One interesting anomaly worth mentioning is that the PC will not eject USB drives if they are connected directly to the single USB C port on the PC BUT it WILL eject any/all USB drives if they are connected via the Satechi Hub. This particular PC has never been able to eject USB devices correctly. The Mac Mini ejects all these same USB devices correctly no matter how they are connected. All USB drives are formatted Windows NTFS whether connected to the Mac Mini or the Windows PC (for those who care) Conclusion: An interesting experiment, but for me the Satechi Hub is not worth what I paid for it. I can easily see it being a worthwhile investment for many, assuming undemanding use cases, however ... show more
