  • Worked amazing for me but others weren't so lucky
Purchased this before the junc temp overheating was widely known so was nervous when it came. Ran a furmark donut stress test for 30 min at 4k settings with the card installed horizontally (apparently the problem is masked if installed vertically) and the junction temp hit 88C with the pc case door closed averaging 450 fps. This meant I was lucky enough to get a functioning one! Ran the test again with the case open and the temp didn't go over 83C with same perforance. Running games the card is much cooler, at 60C. Overall an amazing card if you do get a functioning one, though theoretically you can make do with running it vertically if the vapor cooling is defective. ... show more

  • Thermal Throttling Issues
Purchased the card on February 5th and received relatively quickly. I didn’t have all my parts for the build, so it sat in its box until a month later. When I finally just threw it in my test bench to see it’s benchmarks, the card worked fine in 3D marks Timespy, but I did notice the Junction temp hitting around 95c in a two minute test. I figured I better run it through the Timespy stress test, where it loops Timespy 20 times. Well, by the 5th loop the junction temps had hit 110c, the fans where at around 3000 RPMs and card would throttle and you could clearly see the GPU usage drop from 100% to about 80%. Since the fans were at max the GPU core temperature stayed at about 55c, but the junction temp would hover right at 110c and when ever it hit that temp it throttled (about every 10 seconds). Unfortunately I had received one with the bad vapor chamber. It failed the stress test and I promptly returned it. It’s disappointing to spend so much money on something that isn’t easy to get and for it not to work properly out of the box. ... show more

  • Amazing card!
I wanted to wait a little to test this card out before giving a review. I got this card with a $300 markup which was worth it to me to get when there's literally none available and other stores are marking it up even more. In regards to GH electronics (where I bought this from) the video card arrived in a timely manner and brand new/sealed, hence the 5 stars. The 7900xtx reference card I was a little hesitant about getting due to a batch of cards hitting the 110c temp and throttling down. I think the reference cards have heating issues across the board but with a little tweaking it runs amazing. Don't get the reference cards if you don't want to tinker in the AMD software for undervolting and manually setting your clock speeds. That's what the aftermarket cards are for. This one was hitting 91c junction temp so I wasn't used to seeing such high levels and thought I received one of the faulty cards, but then I noticed it was boosting over 3000mhz which let's be honest if you're card is boosting past specs it's going to run hot unless you get an aftermarket AIO/cooler. When I undervolted and dropped the max boost range to 2860 my temps stay at a nice range of 53c-61c with games. These 7900xtx really do perform well, one of the most demanding games I play is Star Citizen, and I'm averaging 90-140FPS in 2k (3550x1440p). Warhammer Darktide stays at a nice 100-140fps range and this is better than most of the performance videos I see showcasing the 7900xtx. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase and it was worth every penny, my next move is to get a waterblock for it, just to see it run at it's full potential and gain another 10-15fps. ... show more

  • Overheating problems
When playing games, the hot spot temperature reaches over 110°C. Was at least nice that it got here fast but sad that it turned out to be defective. AMD or Sapphire won't RMA either because this isn't an official seller.

  • AMD & Sapphire return!!!!
Solid card. Gaming on it for about 10 days now, no issues/crashes. Been back and forth with nvidia/amd/intel for the past 20 years of building my own PCs... AMD won recently due to pricing, I love AMDs updated software and how you can tailor it to your playstyle. This 24gb card doesn't skip a beat, buy it! Treat yo self! ... show more

  • Amazing card, but a shame that so many are affected with the vapor chamber defect
I just bought this card and legitimately love it. Unfortunately, like many others, it was affected by a defective vapor chamber, hitting 110c. This is not specific to any seller, but rather the MBA (Made By AMD) models. I cannot blame the seller for this and I'm actually quite satisfied with them for the speed of shipping, price and quality, but due to the defect being so bad I had to return it and get a refund. For those wanting to buy the MBA models be aware that it really is a gamble at whether it will be defective or not. It may be worth the risk it may not. If you go with a partner card instead you will avoid the problem entirely, but if you're like me, the reference design is very desirable given it's 2 8-pin power connectors as opposed to almost all other models requiring 3. Fantastic seller, fantasic card, genuinely unfortunate defect. ... show more

  • The 7900 XTX overheat issue is present in some or all of this model
The 7900 XTX overheat issue is present in some or all of this model Per Sapphire Tech Support this issue has been reported for this model, but not the Pulse or Nitro versions. Regarding the specifics of the issue, as soon as the card's junction temperature reaches 70c it massively downclocks. Since the card by default hits 70c within seconds of any game or benchmark, the issue happens within a 5 to 10 seconds. Per Sapphire Tech Support thermal downclocking should not happen until the card hits 110c. ... show more
