  • Tiny high quality AM/FM radio with outstanding sensitivity for stations
This is an excellent radio, which is tiny but has great reception and high quality sound with 10 memory presets for FM and 5 for AM. The FM sound is outstanding! Controls are easy and intuitive. Rocker for volume. This apparently a second version since there are two batteries. Unlike the virtually identifical DT 120 white and DT 180 black, there is no clock or sleeper function, but I like not having to set a clock and keeping it simple. The volume is a rocker which I find better than wheel because of clear tactile response. The Deep Bass response and stereo do enhance the sound based on my experience. ... show more

  • Cool little radio!
This is a very neat little radio. I wanted something clear so I could see the insides of the device - you don't see many clear electronics around and being able to get a close up look at the circuit board and other components is a big plus in my book. I understand this item's value from a security standpoint, but I like it purely for its geek aesthetic. Reception is just okay, hence my rating. It seems susceptible to interference, so it's best if you can use it while relaxing in just one spot instead of on your commute. I think the reception could be improved, which would truly make this a much better device. Don't let that deter you from getting it if you like the way it looks, however. It works, sounds good, and gets good battery life. You really can't go wrong. ... show more

  • A Great Little Radio... Very Cool "Correctional Facility" Version
As I was preparing to serve on jury duty I quickly realized I would need a radio to kill time and listen to daytime AM talk radio that I normally miss when I am at work. So I started looking for a small pocket AM/FM "transistor-style" radio with a digital tuner to replace the old Radio Shack model that I purchased about 15 years ago which had since stopped working. My search led me to Amazon which, much to my surprise, had quite a few different brands and models from which to choose. I discovered the Sanjean brand, which I had never heard of before, and based on the many positive reviews, checked out their website. The Sanjean site also provided a nice, downloadable PDF comparing the features and benefits of each of their portable radios. With a lineup of 8-10 different pocket-sized AM/FM radios, I discovered that they also had a line of 3 or 4 clear, see-through models that are reportedly approved for use in prisons, since contraband can't be hidden within the clear radio cases. It suddenly dawned on me that what could be cooler than using a prison-approved radio while serving on jury duty? ...so I immediately ordered the little Sanjean DT-120CL. When I received it I plugged in an AAA battery and the included earphones, and tuned and locked-in my 5 favorite AM stations and 10 FM stations. When I turned it on I was impressed with the reception for both AM as well as FM stations, and the FM stereo worked fine. AM reception is a little tricky inside buildings or public buses, and requires a bit of manipulation to get a clear signal. Once out on the street, however, AM comes in loud and clear (at least in Manhattan). FM reception is generally very good, even inside office buildings. The controls are intuitive and simple to use, but because of the clear case, are a little difficult to identify. But the coolness factor of the clear prison-ready case outweighs any negative navigational issues. The "deep base" sound enhancer works great, and a convenient "lock" mechanism on the back of the case is very good when you listen to the radio and keep it in a shirt pocket and want to avoid sudden volume changes or station switches. The included white earphones -- while larger and a bit clunkier than standard-issue Apple iPod phones -- are comfortable to wear and seem to stay in my ears when I make my 25 block walk home each night. This is a fine little radio, and the clear correctional facility case makes it worth the purchase... I definitely recommend the Sanjean DT-120CL. It's also a great conversation piece for anyone who sees it. ... show more

  • Fantastic Small Radio
This tiny radio is an incredible value. The performance is incredible for a radio of this size and price point. It comes with its own earbuds, and the sound quality is just fantastic. I had no trouble pulling in most of my local stations. It even grabbed a couple of local AM stations that have always difficult to get in my apartment. They weren't crystal clear like the others, but they were good enough to hear, and that alone is a big improvement. The small size is great for travelling, or just listening to while doing chores around the house. The clear case is really cool too. It's really interesting to see the just how small everything on the inside is, which further makes me appreciate the performance of this little radio. The only criticism I can really come up with is that the clear case does make it a little more difficult to read the buttons than a solid case does. So this might be harder to get used to if someone's vision isn't so great. Still, the instruction manual makes very clear where everything is located, and the radio is a breeze to operate once you have that information. That all being said, due to the ease of use, I would still recommend the clear case to anyone who is interested in it, regardless of their eyesight. Summing all this up, grab one of these, I doubt you'll regret it. ... show more

  • Fine Addition to My Collection of Radios
This radio is clear, which makes it a stand out in my radio collection. Its function as radio also makes it to the top. Easy to use, super reception for both AM and FM, and FM stereo. It is nice to see the inside of a radio. This is a basic (and dare I say, jail ready) radio, the clear transparent model I have anyway. No clock. No light for the LCD screen. That is OK. Just a great radio with great battery life from a pair of AAA batteries. (Other models, identical brothers and sisters to this one, apparently do offer lighted screen, clock and alarm). In any case, this is truly a pocket radio. You can probably fit two in a pack of cigarettes. But don't take my word for it, I do not smoke, so that is only a guess. But it is light, it is good, it is sensitive. It is a radio that does the job as good as any pocket radio and better than most. No regrets and I am happy I own one. ... show more

  • Nope!
Loud buzzing/hissing sound when you try to listen to anything at a lower volume. The up side it is very compact, and sound is good as long as it is cranked up to about 5+ on a music station.
