I bought this as a compact scoop for sandfleas or fiddlers. Not as effective as a long handled rake, but it's light, takes up little space, and can catch enough live bait to keep you fishing.

Handle cracked upon first digging of sand, works fine when I just use my right hand to hold the base as I scoop. The handle should have 2 mounting points and it would be much sturdier. I still use it without the handle just fine so it’s not a big deal, I catch sand crabs with it and it works great. It probably isn’t designed for wet sand so I’m not complaining and have gotten use out of it.

I am using this as a sand crab shovel. It works but I can tell that the handle is not as sturdy as my other one. This has set size hole, unlike the other one that has the slightly lager hole at top and smaller to the bottom. Perfect for digging sand fleas. This works but the other is better. I use mine while metal detecting I like that they're plastic because they're lightweight and the scoop doesn't make the metal detector go off I use them mostly in dry sand but when I use them in wet sand and I get a signal I walk down to the waterfront and let the ocean rinse the sand away revealing the metal object like I said it's made of plastic don't beat it up like it's made of metal and you should be pleased I have seen other reviews where people say it breaks where the handle attaches to the scoop I haven't had that problem but I think it's important to make sure that it is well seated when you assemble it if you want extra protection you could epoxy the handle when you put it together. I can't really comment on the little shovel because I don't really use it

This is a perfect kit. Comes with everything needed to get out on the beach and metal detect. It's nice because it's made of a very durable plastic. You can run your pin pointer inside of it, and locate easily.
