This compact device serves as a powerful hub, enabling seamless connectivity between various smart devices and platforms. Setup was straightforward, with a user-friendly app guiding me through the process. Once connected, the dongle effortlessly integrated with a wide range of devices, from lights to sensors, allowing for centralized control. The performance has been reliable, with minimal lag when controlling devices remotely. It also enables automation routines, which has made managing my home much more efficient. • Great if not for SmartThings
Samsung is pretty behind the ball in allowing integration with other companies’ thread border routers. This allowed for my family hub Fridge to function as a thread border router, it just can’t join my Google/Home Assistant larger thread network, making its own thread network only. Makes it fairly useless so far, maybe eventually will gain the desired usefulness ... show more

  • Mysterious dongle boosts utility of Family Hub fridge
If you have a Samsung refrigerator with a Family Hub screen on it, this little dongle has a hidden compartment on the top of one of the doors with a USB port built just for it. You wouldn't know of its existence except by chance, because it is not really promoted. For me, this little dongle opened up a door to home automation that is both bewildering and rewarding. What it does is empower the SmartThings app to handle more devices. In my case, I have been able to connect my kitchen lighting and have it do things like automatically come on when I come home, or dim down to various scenes I have pre-set and can activate with a tap on my phone. There is a lot of stuff you can program, and sometimes it works like magic, but other times, what you thought it would do doesn't work the way you thought it would. At this price, I thought it was worth jumping into the unknown, and I'm happy I did. ... show more

  • Not for all Samsung TVs
Doesn't work with my TV. the tv requirements should have been better communicated. I thought this device was to make non smartthings tvs into one. however based on tv restrictions, i think this hub is allowing smartthings capable tvs to have a central device hub. meaning instead off all the smart devices going through wifi, they go to the device, the device is connected to wifi, thus clearing up wifi bandwidth. confusing since this isn't communicated. ... show more

  • Now I can control SYLVANIA LIGHTIFY bulbs using this hub
I bought several of SYLVANIA LIGHTIFY ceiling lights/bulbs few years ago and unable to control them since OSRAM company stopped the App and Alexa support. I recently bought Samsung 2022 NeoQLED TV and Samsung SmartThings dongle and now I am able to control lights from app or voice commands. All features like setting up the colors , color temperature and dimming functions are working with Samsung SmartThings hub. Bulb Reset info: To hard reset the SYLVANIA LIGHTIFY bulbs, perform the power cycle (turn OFF + turn On for 3 sec = 1 time) for 5 times. Once done, wait for ten seconds and then the light will blink 3 times if it successfully reset. This is an assurance that the LIGHTIFY bulb is ready to be paired again. ... show more
