  • Looks fantastic on the wall; art mode is great.
It is not just a TV. It really is a picture or poster frame. I uploaded a photo of my girlfriend. When she walked in and looked at it, she thought it was a super high-quality print of her - she was amazed. You can upload your photos to TV and play them as you like, or play them from Samsung gallery (I don't use it since I use Google Photos, but Samsung smartphone users may appreciate it). Art mode function gives you access to paintings, photos and other art - I love it. There are some free collections, or you can get access to much more with a monthly subscription; it is $5 after 3 month trial, I thin it is worth it. Other benefits: wireless screen sharing from laptop PC (Windows 10 required) - I use it often to work from bed; AirPlay built in and working well for Mac users - I stream Facebook live sessions or (sometimes) music; remote PC access - use TV as a remote workstation (wireless keyboard and mouse needed, USB will work if you have long-enough cable); Samsung SmartThings hub built in (I don't use it as I am already set on Amazon's solution). Usual complement of apps including Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, Hulu, SlingTV and many more. Since the electronics box is separate (connected to TV with a very thin and completely unobtrusive cable - if you have beige or light brown wall, you will hardly notice it) it is bigger and therefore has plenty of connection options - 4 HDMI ports, optical, 3 USB ports, gigabit ethernet. I do miss old fashion RCA audio output, but bluetooth headphone or external speaker pairing is a breeze. Picture quality is great. Note: this is QLED display (i.e. quantum dot TFT display with multipoint LED backlighting) not OLED (emissive). Blacks are reasonably black, but not as deep black as on OLED (or plasma). It is pricey - you pay for the form and functionality, but I think it is totally worth it. I guess I will buy one for each room and turn my house into a gallery. ... show more

  • Wife Friendly
My wife did not want a TV hanging in our living room and this was a great compromise. Wasn't too difficult to mount and looks great in "picture" mode - though chances are you would never mistake this as actual painting. The built in apps add enough flexibility to use without an additional add-on like a FireStick or AppleTV. Sound is OK for a flat TV, but really need a soundbar to amp it up (really what flat TV has great sound?). I love the umbilical cord and box that has a TON of HDMI inputs. I think all TVs should have this feature. Makes connecting into it so much easier than on the TV itself (I have a normal flat-panel in the den and its a PITA to feed the HDMI through the wall and connect anything new). The remote was OK - could withstand the removal of the "hot" buttons (Hulu, Netflix, Etc) - if you are not a subscriber they are useless and they get hit accidentally a lot. My dog took care of this and ate the remote. The replacement once I bought didn't have the button - yay! Also, the voice assistant (Bixby) - makes Siri seem useful - I actually can't believe there is a voice assistant worse than Siri, but Samsung nailed it. So 5 stars for being a wife friendly, flat panel, large-ish TV. 3 stars for sound and remote. No stars for Voice assistant. I'm still at 5 stars overall b/c the sound, remote and voice assistant were creature comforts that are "nice to haves", but not why I purchased the TV in the first place. ... show more

  • The art mode is fantastic and the picture is amazing.
Display Size: 65 Inches
This TV is very impressive. The picture is unbelievably sharp and I feel like it does much better in brighter environments than an OLED. The art mode has made my wife extremely happy and I am starting to love it too. I’m used to walking downstairs and seeing a gigantic black box on our wall but now I see a gorgeous painting or pictures of my girls. This TV is worth it for the art mode in my opinion. We had a birthday party at our house yesterday and my sister asked me “What did you do with your TV?” I had a painting by Cezanne up and she thought we had replaced the TV with a painting. Then I showed her the menu and her jaw dropped. We opted for the light wood frame, which snapped on magnetically, sooo easy, and it really helps with the whole art illusion. In short, this is the best TV I’ve ever owned. My wife was just saying this morning that it is going to be our “forever TV” and I tend to agree with her. I’m a bit of a gadget freak, but honestly, I don’t want to change out this TV anytime soon. It would be like trashing a painting. ... show more

  • Waste of money
I would give this TV 1/2 star if possible, and that is generous. For the amount spent you would expect a TV to last. We have owned this TV for around 4 years and in that time we have had to purchase 3+ remotes, and deal with naunced issues including months of an Art subscription that would not cancel even when attempted AND did not provide the art we paid for. The final straw was when the bottom of our TV began to flicker with a white beam across it. Reddit indicates this is way more common than a one off. I called and asked for help to resolve this, then I had to pay for a third party company to come take a look at it and diagnose the problem. There was a malfunction with the motherboard and the repair cost would be about as much as a new TV. I asked for Samsung to pay for the parts and I would cover the labor. I have seen that this is sometimes approved. They would not budge. They said it's not about how much the TV cost. I argued that it's very much about making an investment in a piece of equipment and to pay over $1k for something and get several years is terrible. I am interested in exploring a Hisense or TCL for my next frame television. The HiSense reviews and cost both seem to be better. Regardless, you are better off taking 10 $100 bills and lighting them on fire, because that's about as much of a return you will get with one of these televisions. ... show more
