Do not buy this if you're looking for the fastest tablet. That's not what it is, though it's by no means slow. It will take a lot more abuse than the fastest tablets available for the same price. You can stand outside in the rain or snow and use the touchscreen when it's wet. You can drop it in the mud, pick it up, wipe it off, and keep using it. I wouldn't take it scuba diving though. I will take it off-roading. This one has enough storage to preload maps for off-road hiking/biking/riding/driving for when there's no signal at all. I've seen several questions about whether this works with Verizon, and several people answer that it doesn't. Those people are wrong. The Enterprise/LTE/4G/WiFi version does work with Verizon. It should work with others. Find this model number (SM-T577UZKGN14) on the Samsung site to check. Samsung knows. Those other people don't. This is the third tablet I've used my Verizon SIM card in. The first was a tablet I bought through Verizon. The second was a TabActive2, and now I'm using the same SIM card in this TabActive3. This does not apply to the WiFi-only version. Don't confuse the two. I pulled the SIM card out of the TabActive2, inserted it in the TabActive3, restarted the device as requested, and a few minutes later the line was active on the new device. I ignored Verizon's emailed instructions, because they don't appear to apply to swapping a current SIM card into a new device. I even restored a Google backup from the 2 to the 3 and saved a lot of time installing apps. So, why this tablet? It's rugged. It's Samsung. I really like having an 8" tablet. It works with Verizon. Why 4G/LTE? It's not 5G. I drive a truck through at least 5 states on a regular basis, and in some areas the signal constantly switches between 4G and 5G and the data connection is interrupted. When I can't access online banking, credit cards, and apps relating to business with my 5G phone, I often can with a 4G tablet. I have unlimited data on a second plan for only $10/mth, since I already have a smartphone plan. No hotspot/WiFi needed. Why upgrade? My TabActive2 only had 16GB of internal storage. The TabActive3 I bought has 128GB. The TabActive3 has DEX. The TabActive2 didn't. I didn't manage to hurt the 2, and the 3 is physically very similar. The 3 has a faster CPU, and a faster GPU. From the beginning, everything about the TabActive2 as a usable tablet simply wasn't enough. It wasn't fast enough. It didn't have enough storage. But it was rugged. It still is. This is the first time I've upgraded when the old tablet still worked as well as it did when I bought it. It appears that the TabActive3 is just as rugged. Con: The biggest downside to these is that there's no external charger that I can find for the replaceable battery. At least I can't find one. Maybe one exists. I have no evidence of that. It is possible to buy another compatible battery, but I can't find any way to charge said battery other than to charge it in the tablet, and it's a pain to get to, because of the lengths Samsung went to to seal the battery compartment. The battery life is substantial, partly due to the less-than-premium performance, but it would really be nice to be able to easily carry a fully-charged spare. ... show more

Removable battery, physical buttons, headphone jack, bright screen, comes with a case and S pen. This tablet is every I would hope for, while many may think the material/design is backward I like the fact that I can swap batteries, and it is not a fragile device. It obviously does not look as premium as the Tab S series but this has decent spec and more decent price. I snag it during the prime day deal and it was a steal. I have been contemplating if I should get a tablet because I am using. Z Fold but I did not regret it because it makes reading or watching movie a little more enjoyable. The only downside is the speaker is not as loud or even comparable to an A series tablet but that is not a deal breaker for me. Enjoying it so far. ... show more

Ive been experimenting for a while now, and so far so good. I haven't tries dex yet because I don't have an updated tv but I'll soon experiment with my desktop and see if I can wirelessly connect. I do wish they cam with the cable so I could connect to the tv that isn't wireless. The other thing I wish is that it came with the cover for attaching the lynard. It's a bit heavy. Runs decently fast for my needs. I also wish they would make apps that saved dated like our computers do so we can choose where to save the files it creates. That's not on the tab tho. The s-pen is a game changer and the notes with fountain pen is awesome. I do wish they offered more decorative fonts with the built in apps as well. Also the case it comes with doesn't allow easy access to the mini sd card. Thats a downer...overall I'm enjoying this tab! ... show more

I think it's a great rugged 8 inch tablet that met all my expectations. Well for some reason Samsung didn't enable voice over LTE, voice over IP works fine. I use Google voice which is free and I can make and receive calls on this tablet! You can use internet connection sharing and connect other devices to share your LTE internet, but speeds are limited. However the tablet has DeX which lets you run Android on your laptop or TV wirelessly in an environment very similar to Windows 10! Your internet speeds are not limited when using Dex so you can watch videos at full 1080p. The only problem I have is all the software that Samsung ads to the tablet which is trying to duplicate everything that's already on it from Google. it has room for two SIM cards (if you don't mind giving up the memory card slot) and if you have one sim for LTE and the other one set up for 3g, theoretically you should be able to make phone calls over the 3G sim and get your internet over the LTE sim. I haven't tried this yet I've only had this for a few days but so far I'm very impressed with it! ... show more
