OK, I'm a cheap SOB. I admit that. I experimented with a couple low price tablets (<= $100) and was disappointed each time. So I finally decided to stop dorking around and got a real, no kidding, Samsung Tablet and I am kicking myself for not doing that sooner. I tried an RCA Tablet from Walmart. It seemed like a good value and had a detachable keyboard. But it was horribly slow and clunky, so I offloaded that quickly. Next I tried the Amazon Fire 10. I am not here to bad mouth the Fire Tablet. If you are happy with the Fire operating system and the Amazon environment, it's a decent piece of hardware at a low price. It has a good display and it streams video and performs other entertainment tasks nicely. The battery life was not great but that was not a deal killer. However, what I really wanted was an Android device and while Fire is based on the Android operating system, it remains at its core a proprietary Amazon product. Of course, you can go on-line and figure out how to download and install the Google Play Store. I went a step further and installed a couple more apps to give me an Android-like home screen. With a bit more effort, I even made the Fire accept Android Widgets. So I finally got the Fire Tablet so that it kind of had an Android look and feel but at the end of the day, it still didn't do everything I wanted it to do. The big problem was compatibility with apps from the Google Play Store. Not everything I had on my Galaxy phone would work on the Fire. My frustration reached the tipping point when I found that the undated version of the American Airlines app was no longer compatible with my Fire. Since I travel frequently, that was a problem. Those experiences taught me the hard way that if you want an Android device that performs well with wide app compatibility, you can't do that on the cheap. Given that my goal was to have a tablet that was essentially a bigger version of my Samsung Galaxy phone, it finally dawned on my that I'd better get a real, no kidding Samsung Tablet. Duh! The Tab A became the answer. I use laptops or my desktop for heavy use. I use my tablet on travel (invaluable if you fly American Airlines since they expect you to stream entertainment on your own device). I also use it in the living room for a quick web search. So I did not need all the bells and whistles of the higher end Samsung tablets. Looking at the specs and the reviews, I became convinced the Tab A would meet my needs. That has certainly been the case. The Tab A has allowed me to set it up with most of the same apps I have on my Galaxy phone. The display is fantastic and the battery life has been a huge improvement over the fire. I can keep several apps open without performance problems. So for my needs, it is nearly perfect. I waited a few weeks before posting a review but my Tab A remains a pleasure every time I pick it up. It is not the cheapest tablet out there but in the low $200's, it gives you plenty of bang for the buck. I just feel dumb I did not heed the old expression, "You get what you pay for." It really is true.

Well it's a great entry level tablet, main advantage to other tablets is its price. Here is my review after 4 months of use. RAM: tablet has a rather slow performance with the 2GB RAM. It's really noticeable specially when you unlock the tablet. Storage: mine got 32 GB which is not so good but can easily upgrade. Camera:it has the 5 MP on front and 8 MP on rear. Have taken some great pictures with it. As for the video, I use this tablet mainly for video calls, and there is no noticeable lag, much better than my laptop. Battery: the 6150 mAh lasts much much longer than you think. If I use it for heavily gaming it would last like a day, otherwise, I don't even remember when was the last time I charged it, probably once a week. Charger: regular usb c, no fast charger, no complaints as the battery lasts really long. Screen: 10.1 inch seems like the perfect size, vivid colors make watching movies rather nice. The touch does not feel that great, you gonna hurt your finger tips if you use it for gaming too much. Speakers: the two speakers on the bottom sound good, however if it had at least one speaker on top, it would have made watching movies much better. I don't really like the position of the power and volume button, seems to be too close to each other, many times I press the wrong one. No face ID nor a finger tip scanner. Finally, I really liked the tablet when I bought it, but since then I upgraded my phone and I'm not quite sure whether I would have bought this tablet comparing the features with my note 10 phone. Maybe I should have gone for the nicer S6. I don't know, probably wouldn't as the S6 has same price as a 13 inch core i5 laptop with 500 GB SSD.

So far, I am loving this Samsung Galaxy Tab a 10! Right out of the box, it looked very good; no scratches on the body or screen. About 60% battery life when I turned it on. Went right to set-up and it was super easy. I use this tablet for my Sunday School devotions. By doing so, I can reduce paper waste. I play games as well. The processor has been extremely fast and moves from screen to screen and file to file with no lagging. I haven't downloaded any music files, but I have tested and the sound is great; turned on the Dolby and the sound is even better. Downloaded games and apps from the Google store. Downloads are fast with no lagging or pauses. It is the perfect size for me as I do not see as good as I once did LOL. For my purposes, I am super satisfied with the quality and performance. I was very pleased with the price and, so far, I would buy another from the same vendor. It was actually Amazon fulfilled and I have never had any concerns when ordering that way.

Fantastic device! I was looking to upgrade from an older tablet. I was not a fan of older Samsung Galaxy tablets that still had the home button at the bottom. This one has minimal bezels, just a clean nice look with mostly aluminum back--it feels like a premium device. Build quality is excellent, and performance is excellent as well. I am not an extreme power user, but not a basic user either. Browsing and apps are all quick, screen is excellent and bright. For browsing, youtube videos, basic apps like Dropbox, ESPN, etc., the 32gb version with 2gb RAM works well. For comparison of other tablets I have used: - Lenovo tab 4 8 plus: this is significantly faster and much better experience. This Samsung is not that much. The Lenovo's had fingerprint scanner and that is the only thing I'd say is missing from this tablet. I use Trusted Lock so only need to use PIN to unlock when away from home. - Amazon fire hd 10: had this in 2017, this tablet feels much more premium. Great not having to side load apps and some of the apps just didn't work well side loaded. Browsing on Chrome is so much better. The Amazon apps did the job though for basic email and browsing and it has better speakers and speakers placement. But I was just disappointed overall with fire HD as I was looking for a little more. - iPad mini 4: I wanted to get a bigger screen size and the iPad mini was starting to get a little slow. It's defintiely worth the upgrade if not tied to Apple - 2018 iPad 9.7": significant other uses this now, for my purposes it's been equivalent (at almost half the price with the current deal). Only things that keep it from giving it 5 stars: - no biometric (finger or face) authentication - speakers only at bottom of tablet, so when in landscape it's not stereo sound. Speakers are kind of anemic too. Overall, this is a really nice tablet and very happy with it!

I was shopping around for an affordable tablet (under $300) to read comic books and watch videos on. I narrowed my choices down to the budget/entry-level iPad, Kindle Fire 10, and this tablet. The iPad's screen (9.7 inches) isn't ideal for full-page comic reading, and I was never a fan of the Fire HD operating system, so I paid a bit more for this Galaxy tablet which runs the latest version of Android. I'm very glad I purchased this tablet! The 10.1-inch size is perfect for full-page reading; the text within each comic panel is crystal clear, and color accuracy is incredible. The bezels around the screen are minimal, providing an immersive reading experience. I'm not gaming, so I can't comment on performance, but running Spotify, Chrome, and my comic app simultaneously works great. My only gripe with the device thus far is that it's a bit heavy (the Galaxy Tab S5e is lighter), however, this device costs 50% less and doesn't have the reported wi-fi antenna defect that the S5e does. With the money I saved, I purchased a folio-style case and 12-month subscriptions to my preferred reading services.

It was time to upgrade my sons 10 yr old hand me down device. I looked at the same brand since that one served us well, but they were too much money, if he were to spill juice on it or whatever. He just needed something to watch his videos on and play some games. I didn’t want to go with a refurbished, as I’ve never had luck with them, and while the lower quality brands were more economical, I wanted something I knew would would run well and last more than a year or so before the software crashed. The Samsung fit perfectly into my needs and budget, and I especially like the fact that I can add a memory card as the need arises, that was a huge plus, as many other models do not have that option, you either have to buy the memory at a premium cost or get stuck with a device that can’t store what you need. So far it runs great and I have all the parental controls through my own google and Samsung accounts, he. An fineally play all the new games his old device wouldn’t run, and he couldn’t be happier. It was also very easy to find a high quality low cost bumper and screen protector for, adding to the value and durability.

It's the best tablet I've ever had. It's been with me for a month. No lags, no frezze, no resets. I've used for netflix, social network and web browsing. It's been perfect for my needs. The 32gb 2gb is ok, i stored some downloades movies and my music. I still have more than half of memory empty. It's a little heavy, but it has a premium feeling. Baterry is ok. It can last all day with light use but streaming media It will die in about 8hrs. It wou be perfect if the could include the spen, but you can't have it all for 200$. The screen is grate, the glossy finished makes it a little difficult to use outdoors but you can turn up the brightness to help you. It's a perfect buy if you are buying a budget tablet but you also don't want to throw you 200 away. For 200$ I dont think you can find anything better.

I wanted to write a review for this tablet even though I just received it a few days ago. If it dies on me or doesn't measure up i'll come back and revise my review. There are very few reviews on this because it's a fairly new release so not many people have bought it yet. I did a lot of research for this tablet. Thanks to the confusion in searching for tablets on Amazon and this having so few reviews, I didn't even think it was legit until I searched the Samsung website and this model came up (same price here and there btw). I buy tech (like phones and laptops) and use them until they die or aren't supported with updates anymore (more on that later). I read a lot of tech reviews on this since there are hardly any reviews here. I considered Kindles but really wanted something that runs android/google out of the box, which Kindles don't (without some hacking that I didn't want to attempt). I wanted the newest tablet for the best value, to perform basic tablet functions (no crazy gaming, etc), on Android and this seems to be the jackpot. A couple things I found out in my search and comparison with other tablets that others might want to know: 1- First (and most important to me), this tablet has the newest Android OS- 9.0 Pie. This is one of the only tablets that runs Pie out of the box, at this price anyway. Some newer tablets run 8.0 Oreo. Most newer and more affordable ones run Lollipop, Marshmallow or Nougat. Having the newest OS is important to me because it means I'll get to keep this as long as possible and lower my likelihood of having issues down the line with updates ending and things not being supported. Some would say this isn't that important, it is to me. 2- This tablet has 2GB of RAM not 3, which I guess is an issue for some people who may use a tablet for more processor intensive things. I don't plan on that. I plan on reading, watching netflix, youtube, etc and doing stuff on apps and the internet. So far it's plenty fast (almost instant) for all of that. (FYI The 64 GB version of this tablet has the 3GB RAM). 3- This doesn't support the S-pen. I don't care about that at all, but maybe some people would like to know. 4- It has a headphone jack, yay!!! 5- It has a microSD card slot for expandable storage. Cool if I happen to need that later, probably not. To sum it all up, this tablet is probably the best on the market for the price. The only downside I found was it's a bit difficult finding screen protectors and cases with enough reviews to know if they're good or not, because the tablet hasn't been out very long. I did some additional research by searching the best screen protector brands and cases for the recent Galaxy Tab A's and then searched to see if they made anything for this Tab A 10.1 2019. I'm including the links for the screen protectors and case I bought from Sparin (known for good screen protectors) and ProCase (good reviews for prev Tab cases). The screen protector is tempered glass, went on beautifully, fit perfectly and comes with 3 for only $13! That'll probably last the life of the tablet! The case is really nice and sturdy which is why I buy cases. I don't like slim "skin-like" cases, I want my tablet protected, it also props it up nicely.
