  • Clear picture with tons of free content
Size: 50-Inch Style: TV Only
We have nothing but Samsung TVs in our home. We added another room and required another television. I figured I would purchase another Samsung. I wanted something ultra thin with smart tv capabilities. This item checked all of the boxes I needed. Set up is super easy. Turn it on, log into Smart Hub, and the tv does the rest. The initial update took about 10 minutes. After that, it has been smooth sailing. The picture is crisp and the sound is great for tv sound. The remote is simple, much like our Apple TV remote, which I like. Our older Samsung model has a bulky remote with options that we rarely use. There is a solar charging panel on the back of the remote to lengthen the life of the batteries. I cannot speak to how well it works, but that option is present. The tv is very light. Easy to maneuver onto a wall. Overall, I highly recommend this tv. ... show more

  • A fantastic TV
Size: 50-Inch Style: TV Only
I’ll be honest with you. I am not a TV tech guy. This review will not delve into the internals and technical specifications of this TV. However, as a TV watcher and user, I can tell you this is my 3rd Samsung TV and my 3rd QLED TV. This Q8F model is phenomenal and the best Samsung I’ve had. Yes, the QLED (quantum dot) is impressive. You will immediately see the difference between this and any other 4K TV. You will notice the difference between this TV and other QLEDs on the market. As a novice, I certainly have. And without question, I can confidently say it is worth every penny. Installation was straightforward. It took about 45 minutes from start to finish, including mounting to a wall mount and updating software. I did have issues with the Samsung phone app, but that was the only hiccup. The native menu system is fast and intuitive, which, in my opinion, is the biggest and best upgrade the TV has. We still use cable, and the TV naturally recognizes it as the last used input and stays on it when it is turned on. Its e-arc sound has been great and connected to our sound bar immediately. There have not been any dropped connections or cutouts. I am amazed by the updated menu system and its speed. This is the fastest TV I have used. The Samsung Q8F TV is a sleek and modern addition to our home. It is significantly thinner than any other TV we have. This replaced a VIZIO TV of the same size, which was not much older. The Samsung is almost 2 inches thinner, so the TV size is enormous. It features a small bezel along the edge, providing a nice, full-frame look. Samsung did a great job on this TV. I am impressed with it. ... show more

  • Great picture; Terrible human interface software; OK but not great remote;
Size: 43-Inch Style: TV Only
I'm only on day 1 so this review might change. I'm only partially set up so I can stream, but not fully (DVD, sound bar, antenna, Roku box). POSITIVE: picture is VERY good; As a bonus, I can play YouTube videos via the YouTube tv app.; Also sound is decent via internal speakers, but I intend to us my (ZVox dialog cleanup) sound bar when TV installed fully. NEGATIVE: The home screen interface is like visiting a whorehouse (just guessing) - a terrible amount of clutter and junk recommendations you can't get rid of. If you don't believe me search the web for complaints about the tizen home screen interface - there are lots. I have 45 years of sw engineering experience so I'm tech literate. I also don't particularly like the remote - weird buttons which are like a combo button/joystick-like. Has a learning curve. Some of my Roku TV apps are available (BritBox, PBS, Prime Video) as native tizen apps, BUT NOT ALL - e.g. the kanopy (video via local library) app not available. So... I knew about interface woes. But since I like the Roku interface 100 times better, I've ordered a Roku box to make Roku my interface - many articles recommend doing this or Fire TV etc. Roku hasn't arrived yet but since I am replacing a Roku TV I have high hopes. Good to know... I grabbed a 7 year old Samsung remote and tried it - it seems to work fine, so the same Samsung IR command set is being used. Much better button layout on older remote. Even better news, I have a universal remote that can be programmed. So it will surely support this TV IR command set (and my DVD player, soundbar, etc). So bottom line - I like this TV but will use the Roku interface to make it better and also use a better remote. I knew these issues going in to purchase. ... show more
