I have several applications for this here in MN. Last night I used it to spread bifrenthrin granules around my yard for pest control (mosquitoes mainly). There's an opening on the front of it that helps direct the spreading angles, and there's a knob that controls the flow to spinning spreader wheel. The instructions are fairly clear on this, and even include a section with recommended settings for the types/size of granules you are spreading. Operation is pretty simple. Install the battery and pull the trigger. I plan on using this in the winter to spread salt on my drive way and walkways too, but I cann't use it for that until winter. So far this is a great little spreader and works like a charm.

Product didn't work for salt/sand this past winter. Even the finest bits wouldn't throw very far. Door never shuts. I wanted to like it, but ended up returning. Does work with Milwaukee battery.

This broadcast spreader fits and works with Milwaukee batteries. It’s very simple - set the volume knob at the base of the handle, attach the battery, add product, open the front shutter, and hold down the trigger. The trigger is large and supports three finger operation so isn’t too hard to use, but it does require more effort than, for example, a drill trigger since it also activates the door between the hopper and spreader. The shutter closes the front so you don’t accidentally spread or spill product on areas your travel through to get to your application zone. It claims a max 5m reach and so far it looks like it broadcasts well that far. The trigger controls how open the feeder is, and the knob prevents it from opening further than the set value, 1-5. The manual has some guidelines for which setting to use for a given application, but you’ll want to do your own testing if you’re critical about proper spreading. The shutter is designed so that the hopper is closed when the shutter is closed so if you accidentally pull the trigger while the shutter is closed it doesn’t clog up or feed product, it just spins without any other effect. It’s loud - more than a drill, but not bad, you just won’t be able to hold a conversation while using it.

This is easy operate and is lightweight. You pour your product in the top and adjust the flow and press the power button to start spreading. I used this to spread grass seed. It spread the grass seed evenly and I was able to cover a large area in very little time. It saved a lot time and I was able to get more coverage out of my seeds than I planned. This is built well and is made of good quality material. It doesn’t use much battery power and is easy to clean

The media could not be loaded. I like the unit. It's a great idea, and, it works OK. What I didn't like is that the connection between the switch and whatever opens the gate to the unit, is just too weak. Also, even with a good dry product, it tends to get stuck open. You can pull it back to close it, but when the hopper is full, that doesn't work. I gave the unit a 4 - maybe generous considering the problems with the product gate, but if you can work around that, it does work quite well and distributes it way better that I can do by hand.

I use a similar handheld spreader that had a crank to spin the broadcast wheel, and it always worked for me. But since I am thoroughly invested in M18 tooling, batteries and chargers, I thought I would try it out, and I found I really liked it. Not having to crank all the time to spread seed or fertilizer is really an advantage, and I find I get more consistent and even coverage without all the stops and starts of the hand-operated unit. I really like this!

This Milwaukee machine spreads the salt during cold seaons evenly. Battery charges up pretty quickly and holds up for a while. Can also be used to spread plant fertilizer,weeds etc. The machine is not as heavy so you can hold the machine for awhile.
