Do not trust the "peg cutter" portion of the barrel top. The wood will just get stuck and snap off - and you'll have the DAMMEDEST time trying to unclog it. I snapped the tip off of a knife trying to do just that. Just whittle your pegs with knife or hatchet, then it works like a dream.

    • Not leather. Smells like chemicals.
The auger may be fine but the case that comes with it is not leather. It seems flimsy. As someone who needs to rely on your tools, you don’t want a cheap case that will break and fall off your belt. The case also has a terrible chemical smell.

I loved how easily I bored through a 4" or so piece of juniper that has been down for six months. A foot of 3/4" PVC made a perfect handle. I'm super pleased with it's performance. The sheath is useful and the paint finish is quite durable so far.
