This is a nice beginner set of tools for using with a wood lathe. I am just starting out and this set is a good place to start in my opinion. It has a nice variety of carbide inserts to do various cuts. The handles are easy to grip and aren't slippery during use which is very important. I did have to tighten up the screws upon arrival, but that was to be expected from shipping. The inserts all come out so you can buy replacements if they wear out. I really like that this set came in a nice wooden box with foam inside that holds and protects all of the tools. Makes it easy to store them when not in use and keep them safe. Overall in the few times I've used them so far they seem to do the job they were created for. In the long run I'll probably invest in some heavier duty ones for bigger jobs though as theses don't seem like they would work as well on big jobs since they aren't super heavy duty.

Tools work very good for cutting. However handles are a problem. All 3 tools handles would continually come off tool. Not while cutting but when would lay down. Have contacted support.

Inferior product even for the value. Two of the three turning tools were not secure in the handle (loose) and a potential safety hazard. Not knowing that it was loose until using it, the shaft of one of the tools dislodged and cracked the handle immediately. I immediately quit and never used the other two, only to discover that another tool was also in the handle. I do not recommend.

This review is for: SainSmart 4 PCS Carbide Wood Lathe Turning Tool Set with Case Preface to my review, I am still in my infancy as a turner, my opinions are my own, I am not a professional...yet. Ok, right off the bat I am going to say that these are probably better for small turning projects/pens and not for bowls. I did resort to pulling out a few longer tools in order to finish my bowl. On the whole I liked using them. They have decently sharp carbide inserts that work well. The finish on the tools was a little spotty on the tool bodies. You can see what I mean in the picture. I used my digital calipers on all the carbide inserts to verify their size and I read within .001mm of each one so I think they are true to the sellers size descriptions. The handles are a little bit small for my hands but they were not uncomfortable. I think the finish needs a bit of work. They were a bit rough and I could feel raised grain against my hands. I am going to give them a light sanding and then put another coat of finish on the handles. Tools feel like they have a short tang but they seem solid enough. The case keeps them from knocking around. Diamond detailing tool presses against both sides of the box. I think the box should be about 1/8 inch longer to prevent accidental damage to the tip of that cutter. Overall, I think they are ok for the price.
