I received this rod at 350 on sale instead of 425$. I own 13 fly rods Brands such as fenwick, redington, orvis, tfo, syndicate, echo and the like. I bought this in 6wt and she’s a keeper. Negatives were no sock, no worries most redington don’t have one, and no alignment dots. Easily fixed but really wouldn’t have cost sage anything to add but is totally noticeable. Cork is above average, rod looks solid and casts extremely well. Warranty is not as solid as others but is built well and hopefully won’t need…this gal is a fish catcher and def a steal at 350. At normal price possibly look to spend another bill or two and go G Loomis. Hard to beat at 350 ... show more

The rod appears fine but the case was shipped broken. If shipper had said it was broken and not new I wouldn’t have issue.

I purchased this rod as a replacement for my Sage Approach which was stolen. Both rods are their entry level rods, and after the approach was discontinued, this replaced it. Its a nice fast action rod and it casts great. The matte black looks pretty cool. I preferred the grip style on the approach, but that is personal preference. It has a little less backbone than the approach, which is my only issue (that and no hook holder). I have the 6wt for river smallmouth fishing and it was a little more difficult to fight them against current. ... show more

I like the Foundation rods and find them to be great values, wish I had received one. I got an empty Sage rod tube. Order was ‘fulfilled’ by Amazon through Kingfisher. I know that tube left Bainbridge Island with a rod in it. Someone along the Amazon chain must have lifted it. The rod weighs almost nothing, so no one would notice unless they looked inside. This is a fast action fly rod. Much stiffer than other rods I have owned/used, which were slow to medium at 6 wt. My only minor gripe is that it doesn’t come with the hook loop neat the cork handle for attaching a fly when moving between fishing pools. You have been warned…..Sage has terrible customer service. If you buy this rod…use it on water and don’t like it…tough luck….you can’t return it. I own three sage rods but will never buy another one cause they don’t care about customer loyalty or customer satisfaction. If I can’t try the rod on water how am I supposed to know if I like how it cast. You’re making a $1,000 gamble….good luck Sage….you lost my business ... show more
