I gave this 5 stars because it does work and you will catch fish. It however does not compare to a mid to higher end rod. With the price you can’t expect this will be a sage or Thomas and Thomas. I wanted to get into fly fishing but had experienced fly fishermen suggest get a cheap rod learn the basics and then decide. I used this rod for indicator fishing kinda of non traditionally. I used the indicator but used a tippet ring and tungsten nymphs and no split shot. I caught 2 trout first time out with no help in an area not stocked well. It took a few times out to get the basics down then improve each time out. After a month I was getting 50+ trout days. I since have switched to a mid level euro rod. A lot of people look like they are good with their higher end gear but I was out fishing them a lot them with this cheap rod and probably still can now that I have more experience. It’s an awesome sport and addicting. A bonus it comes with extra leaders, nippers, forceps, fly box and tippet to get you started. I will probably keep using it to actually panfish with now.

Everything has been great about this product! The extra line and leaders are amazing! The tools are of high quality and work really well. The flys are varied and have got me more fish than I can count. I landed my first fish on my first cast on one of the flys. The only thing I will say is that the hand-tied flys have a tendency to fall apart after a few uses and multiple fish grabbing them, a little glue fixed them right up. For learning and getting excited about fly fishing, this is a great option. I use it on tight streams where I don't need to cast far. However, I have been able to roll cast over thirty feet with this short rod. Get one and have an awesome time outside!!!

I ordered one for me and one for my fiance to take with us on trips back to the mainland. Small enough to get in a suitcase and long enough to work right. First observation is that it is a total quality package and I'm very happy with both. Have cast it on grass in the park and seems to cast fairly well. Wish I could have found an affordable 9 foot 4 weight pack rod but these will work well for us over the years of traveling. When I moved over here in Feb this year I sold 2 Sage rods that were both two piece. These don't stack up to $800 dollar rods but won't be getting used that much either. Seems to be good product and good price. Keep it up Wild Water. Let me know if you have a 9 foot 4 weight travel rod. When I have caught a fish or two on some streams in Washington state in June I will re score stars and maybe upgrade to 5 but can't without using the product first.

I am going fly fishing for the first time next week. As everyone knows, fly fishing is very different than traditional fishing; the task of deciding how to fly fish starts with knowing what you need. Someone let me borrow a fly fishing rod but I had no clue what I needed. As a result, I began to casually search for fly fishing rods on Amazon. I came across the Wild Water Deluxe fly fishing rod package deal. I am pressed for time because I am a little more than a week away from my fishing trip. I bought the product and the Amazon salesperson wrote a note that I needed the package ASAP before my fishing trip. To my surprise, I received the package in 4 days; the forecasted delivery was supposed to be 2 days later than it came. I opened the package up and the product looks great. It comes with an instructions packet which is the ideal thing for new fly fishers. The instructions even diagram how to tie the knots to set up the flies. If you are a beginner and feel a bit daunted by the process on how to get started, the Wild Water Deluxe package deal is the way to go. The Deluxe package comes with tools you will need to make your task of setting up easier. The package below the Deluxe does not come with these tools. So, if you are a novice, this package comes with everything you need to inform yourself about fly fishing gear and setup. It even comes with 12 flies in a really nice fly box. If a company is selling a product and they are really quick to go out out their way for you to get it, then you better believe they are extremely confident about the quality of the product. If you got it, flaunt it. Thanks Wild Water.

Not the most durable rod but for the price point but I really enjoy it. This is my second one I e purchased, as the first rod tip broke off very easily. Don’t expect the accessories that come with (tippet, flys, retractable zinger) it to be of high quality. The extra tippet line that came with it easily breaks. All in all I would recommend this to anyone on a budge. Update- i contacted customer service who offered to replace my broken rod at no cost and also stated they have made improvements on their newest ones. Very pleased

I bought this outfit for fishing small streams in Colorado for brook and brown trout and am very pleased with the entire outfit. The size of the 7' rod and the weight of the line work very well in dealing with the challenges of getting to the stream and casting a fly in sometimes very tight circumstances. I found the rod action just right for small dry flies and the included fly selection was perfect for the trout I was chasing. The rod and reel have a nice balance and are super light to carry to the stream. I also used the setup on a lake, along with my 9', 5W rod and reel, and landed some good sized trout with it. Lots of fun to play a larger fish on a 3W rod and reel! Appreciated the additional leader, and the tools. The nipper has a nail-knot tool with instructions, which is handy since the fly line doesn't come with a loop for attaching new leader. The tool made tying a nail know easy and fast. Great set of forceps included too. Very useful zingers for the nippers and forceps, a great little floating fly box and additional 5W tippet material, along with a great carrying case. Everything you need for fishing streams, rivers, ponds and even lakes. Highly recommended.

Not a bad setup for the money. Everything you need to get started. Entry level fly fishers or part time fly fishers like me this is a good setup for the money. Works well. If your a pro spend some money and get something nicer.
