The seat has also been designed for a better reclined body position to give your baby a safe ride. The seat is also designed to be easier for parents to use. Its lightweight and easy to carry, weighing less than 8 pounds. The harness adjusts easily from the front of the seat with a simple pull for a secure fit for your child, and the base height adjusts for the right fit to your car. The car seat is compatible with all strollers that feature QuickClick, including our Smooth Ride travel systems. This allows you to securely attach the car seat to your stroller with one simple click, making it easy to use the car seat and a stroller together as a travel system. The first thing I noticed about this car seat when it arrived was just how LIGHT it was. Even with the base attached, the whole system was super easy to carry around with one arm. So taking the base off and adding a small baby really doesn't change much, it is still a nice light seat. It has a really nice and soft cushion on the inside, making it a comfortable ride for baby, but it still has the firmness of safety and security. The seat was really easy to install. You just take the belts of the base and hook them to the two latches in your car, tighten the strap and make sure the seat is at the correct level. Even if you are an expert at putting in car seats I still highly recommend visiting a fire station or some places offer walk ins where a professional will come out and check your car seat's installation. You can never be too safe with baby! Everything on the seat is easy to maneuver. The button to release from the base is easy to find and click. The shade is easy to pull up and down, the handle is easy to put down and place upright, the straps are easy to adjust and the seatbelt button is easy to press and release. So really this seat is nice and simple to use but does not skimp on safety or security by any means. The only thing I fear with this car seat is just how hot it might get in the summer with it being completely black. Whether the seat has been sitting in the car or if you pull it out and do some errands outside while carrying it. So just use caution with that. I got this Safety 1ˢᵗ® Comfort 35 Infant Car Seat in Black Night for my son who is around 20 pounds and it fits him well. All the adjustments we needed to make were putting easy and installation wasn't terrible. Having the separate base is nice so once you install it, it is much easier to put the baby in and out. The car seat is fairly light-weight and well constructed. The material is decent but seems a little rougher and cheaper than our other car seat but that might just be how it is at this price point. The sizing is good to get you started and allows for as low as 4 pounds which is preemie sizing with a limit of 35 pounds but you will likely hit the height limit of 32 inches well before the weight limit. If I were to estimate, an average sized boy may not be able to use this after 18 months. ... show more

I got this car seat as an extra for when I have the grandbabies with me. It is such a hassle to trade out all the car seats when they visit. Safety 1st is a brand known for excellent products, so I felt good about ordering from them. It is much lighter than I remember them being when my kids were small, yet it seems sturdier. It has a base that is easy to install, and once in place, it remains with a low profile. The seat securely snaps into the base and is removed easily when released. I like that this will grow with your child, and its removable cushion surrounds for newborns give way to extra room when no longer needed. There are also four harness heights to get the safest fit for your child. I will admit that changing the harness height is not my favorite, but it makes this seat last longer as your child grows. It has a wide weight range from 8-32 pounds, so it should last for about two years for an average toddler in rear-facing mode. Adjusting the front chest strap and harness tightness is easy after securing the buckles. Releasing the buckles is hard for me to operate, so I know my grandbabies won't be able to escape once buckled in. You can remove the fabric cover and wash it, which will be necessary from time to time, and there is a full visor that can cover most of the baby for sun protection. Very lightweight, but I trust the safety from this top brand. No real frills at this price point, but the padding feels substantial enough for comfort and it was pretty easy to install in my vehicle.

I got this car seat to use in my car for when I need to pick up my granddaughter. It has been a long time since I have installed a car seat and this one took me a few tries to get installed tightly. I drive a Subaru CrossTrek and it has the anchors to attach the metal hooks that come on the base of the seat. I tried using both the hooks and the seatbelt (together and separately), but I couldn't get it tight enough to be comfortable using with the seat belt, so I opted for using only the hooks. I feel like the seatbelt was uneven and made it tilt. I also had to extend the pedestal on the bottom on the base to get it to sit level. It's nice the seat included that option. The build is lightweight which is nice in the fact that it doesn't add a lot of weight to carry around. The one thing that concerned me is the main buckle is made of plastic, it feels a bit cheap. I don't recall what car seats were made out of when my kids were small, but I would be more comfortable if the primary buckle was metal. The sun shade is moveable by manually pushing and pulling it back & forth, and you can remove all of the fabric parts to wash them. Overall, I'm happy with this car seat as a spare to use when necessary but I'm not sure I would buy it as a primary to use every day due to the plastic buckle. ... show more

This is a decent starter car seat to keep my grandson safe. It may not have all the frills but it's made by a reputable company. The car seat is lightweight and the base was easy to install in my car. The head and body inserts are easily adjustable for when the baby grows.
