This rug has exceeded my expectations, as I’ve ordered several over the years and I am usually disappointed. {It’s hard buying certain things online — without being able to touch it or test it, you know !?} But this rug is a WINNER !! It is thick, soft, fluffy, and a true bright white. The back is thick and solid too; although we have a king bed and bench on it, I doubt it would move much, even on wood floors. I had initially considered a separate pad underneath, but I’m glad I didn’t get one, because it doesn’t need it. It’s easy to maintain (SLIGHTLY tough to vacuum because it’s such a high pile, but I really mean very slightly — and it doesn’t suck up or rip out any of the fibers). It does not shed. It does not smell. It is beautiful. Excellent quality. Great value. It is exactly what I was looking for, and it is truly one of the nicest rugs I’ve ever owned. I bought the beige. It’s a khaki beige.. it’s plush… looks thicker online but it’s a really nice full shag rug! There is a chemical odor.. I sprayed woolite carpet cleaner ( foam) let sit for 20 minutes ran my vacuum over it on high rug pile setting then I sprayed Lysol after it dried… opened my window for a couple hours smell was gone.     • It'll be perfect... Once the smell goes away!

The rug will be perfect once the smell goes away... You never know if people are over reacting in the reviews or not. If you think you're going to buy the rug and roll it out for date night, that's just not gonna work lol The smell is real. I've had it rolled out for a couple hours in a huge room with a 15ft ceiling and the smell almost knocks you down. I purchased it for my baby nursery and the baby isn't due for another 4 months so hopefully by then it'll be good. It is for the nursery, and will eventually be destroyed I expect, so I'm happy with the quality of the rug for the price. The fibers are long and soft - the cats look like they're walking through grass when they cross it. That said, the other reviewers are correct that the backing is just hard carpet backing but FOR THE PRICE the rug is nice. It's not very heavy so I would make sure I got one large enough that it will be anchored by furniture. Otherwise, you'll be skating across the floor on it. ... show more

    • Unbearable Chemical Stink

I buy a lot of Safavieh rugs. I love the brand and I was banking on the same quality as all my other rugs, but this one isn’t impressing me so far. It is EXTREMELY soft, but the fibers, while numerous, are thin, and you can feel the hard base of the rug underneath with the slightest pressure, unlike with my other Safavieh rugs. There is NO padding either so it will need a thick pad for underneath. The color is pretty and vibrant. The worst part is the chemical stink. It’s overwhelming. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. I’ve seen reviewers mention chemical smells for new rugs, but never understood the level of stink and thought they were exaggerating. It’s BAD with this rug. My husband is airing my daughter’s room out as I type this, and he won’t let anywhere in there out of concern. His arms have developed a rash since he was the one who lay the rugs out, but he has somewhat sensitive skin. My skin is fine, as well as my daughter’s, but the smell is unbearable. I might need to return if the stink doesn’t dissipate. ... show more
