I love shag rugs, but they always end up.looking matted and funky after awhile. Regardless, I couldn't find any other cream colored area rugs I liked, so I took a chance on this one, given it's reasonable price and overall positive reviews. This is honestly the nicest shag rug I have ever purchased. It's lovely. The pile is thick and soft, and most importantly the shag is densely woven; this makes such a difference in overall quality. The rug doesn't immediately go flat as soon as you step on it. Clearly I was buying the wrong shag rugs all this time, because none of them have been this densely woven. I can't say with certainty, but this rug seems like it will hold up well over time. The rug is also not in a high traffic area, so I'm optimistic. Of course, I expect shag to not look it's best after awhile, and at this price point, I wouldn't be devastated to have to replace eventually. I would happily purchase another, and I highly recommend this for a quality shag rug that doesn't break the bank. ... show more

UPDATE: This is my second purchase buying the same four rugs from over 2 years ago. The rugs have been outstanding and lasted through daily vacuuming & cleanings thanks to our German Shedder. We’re only replacing due to the dog’s body oils and odors on the carpets. The color and quality was exactly the same as before and only took a few days to settle flat using a heavy box on top & reverse rolling. Last photo is the same dog but second rug. These are Great rugs that are very soft but durable. Very Happy both times with my purchases. See comments below for colors and suggestions. First of all, I agonized for months over these colors and styles. I went back and forth between the California & the Milan Shag but picked this rug style because I was able to get carpet samples. (See Below Photos) I finally ordered the Mushroom Color over the Taupe since it is a collage of several brown hues rather than one solid color. I needed something very durable being in a high traffic area near the garage door that wouldn't show dirt. Plus I had a dog. So far so good. The carpet arrived in a few days and laid flat overnight, had no smell, vacuumed easily with my Dyson, fluffed up nicely, and is perfect for my needs. Very thick and plush at almost 2” tall so it might not go under doors. Mine is at the bottom of the stairs. I would suggest a rug gripper rather than a pad since it is slippery on hardwood floors and may become a trip hazard if any taller. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality and price for this rug especially since finding a 4'X4’ is near impossible. Roxie loves it and immediately claimed it as her new bed. I liked this color so much I am ordering four more of these identical rugs in different sizes for the house. Color Samples: Top: Beige: Mostly Cream/Beige. Light colored cream rug with contrasting beige colors. You really notice the beige/tan color in this rug. Top Left: Mushroom: Dark Smokey Brown/Taupe with different lighter/darker hues. Think Tree Bark/Forest. Earthy. Nice dimensional sheen. Middle: Taupe: Taupe/Light Taupe. Almost a solid colored rug. Overall, not much color contrast, very neutral lighter colored rug. Far Right: Brown. Exactly as shown. Chocolate Brown/Brown. Very rich, deep solid color. Little contrast. Think Chocolate Kisses. Bottom Left: Dark Gray: Gorgeous Dark Gray/Light Gray Color. Very Rich & Expensive Looking. Beautiful Blend. Wonderful Color! Bottom Center: Silver. Pale Silver/Light Gray/Black & White strands. Interesting & Odd Contrasting colors. Very Modern. Bottom Right: Navy. More Dark Blue/Light Blue Color. Modern. Perfect for Kids room or Rec Area. Very Colorful. I also put the browns all together for comparison all these difference colors. Last photo is the Beige and Mushroom. Colors are much darker and pronounced than shown due to camera flash especially the contrasting strands. Dark Gray is much darker than shown and was the most beautiful of samples. If this color works in your home décor, I would not hesitate to buy it. ... show more

Ok, we have had this rug (Ivory, 8x10) for the past 6 months and it has held up very well in our highly used living room. We have an elementary school-aged daughter that loves arts and crafts and drinks liquids in the living room despite reminders not to, and a 100-lb Old English Sheepdog - so I think we put any household object to the test. Because of the aforementioned biological and furry children, I don't invest too heavily in expensive housewares and know full and well they will get a lot of use. I AGONIZED over this purchase so I hope this review is helpful to others in the same boat. Yes, this rug is as wonderful as the reviews say! It's plush -- extra duper plush with a thick felt pad below it! Everyone in the house enjoys sitting on it and guests comment frequently about the beautiful appearance and softness. It has withstood many an art project gone awry, dog vomit, spilled drinks (including strawberry lemonade) and frequent muddy paws! Our dogs feet are the size of giant trashcan lids and we use a huge contraption called a XL Paw Plunger (also on Amazon) to remove mud off his comically large feet, but still, mud/dirt do come in and vacuum off this rug very well. I was hesitant about getting a light color but I oh-so-niaively want to enjoy a light-neutrals decorated home, so I bit the bullet and got Ivory. Seeing others photos helped me immensely so I'm adding mine as well. In my ideal world, I'd prefer a bright white but I'm a realist and ivory works with my life without being too tan/beige. We have white "wood-look" tiled floors with variations of white, gray and graiege in them and a white IKEA couch for reference, so I was a little persnickety about the shade of ivory I wanted. At first the contrast between the ivory rug and the white sofa bothered me a little but I've come to appreciate the subtle contrast and the super-power dirt-hiding abilities of ivory. If you want this rug to match a white white home, consider getting the true white version, but I think the ivory is more practical for most homes. It is "warm" without reading yellow. I'm attaching pictures to help. I'm considering purchasing more of these rugs because we love it so much. PS, shipping was excellent, the rug was well wrapped and the became uncreased/lay flat in no time. It's plenty plush without a felt underlay but we love the underlay for extra cushiony contrast to our hard tile floors. ... show more
