Sabatier EdgeKeeper Pro, Cutting Edge Design is Built-in. This 12-Piece Forged Triple Rivet Cutlery Set features built-in knife sharpeners that utilize patented EdgeKeeper design. This set includes an 8-inch chef knife, 8-inch slicer knife, 5-inch chef knife with kullens, 4.5-inch fine edge utility, 3.5-inch paring knife, and (6) 4.5-inch steak knives. Each slot features built-in knife sharpeners that automatically hone the cutlery every time the knives are removed or placed back in to the block. Each knife is made from high carbon stainless steel which is stain and corrosion resistant. The EdgeKeeper Pro Block is made from natural hardwood with a matte black finish and has five intergraded sharpening slots. Knives are not dishwasher safe; hand-wash with warm water and a mild detergent; rinse and dry immediately.

I looked EVERYWHERE for an affordable knife set that possessed NON SERRATED steak knives... I swear it was like finding Nemo... The only sets I could find were WAY too expensive and I was nearly resigned to purchasing 4-8 decent quality paring knives and simply using them with my existing knife set. Then I happened upon this knife set recommended on a website... I was dubious, but for the price I figured "what the heck". I'm glad I purchased them. Each knife has a decent "heft" to it, feel solid in my hand, and came sharp enough to circumcise a gnat (RIP Uncle Buck). I can't really attest to the built in ceramic sharpeners, I sharpen all my knifes on a whetstone, which is also the reason I wanted non serrated steak knives. I have used each of the knives extensively at this time, including carving up a 25 pound turkey, cutting a ton of twine, steak, chicken and other things. I do hand wash my knives, I hate sending them into my dishwasher, and I haven't had a single spot of rust or other blemish appear on any of them. If you've been searching for a set of knives featuring non serrated steak knives I really do recommend this set. I haven't been paid for this review... I haven't been given any thing for free for this review (but I'm willing to take anything if you'd like to send it my way :P) I haven't entered some kind of contest with this review, and I'm not spewing any BS, this is my honest and unsolicited opinion of these knives. Should things start going south with them, I'll swing back in and add a few more cents to this review.

Very nice set at a reasonable price. I'm not a knife expert, but the craftsmanship seems to be on point. The blades come sharp, the built-in sharpeners for the larger blades work efficiently and don't get in the way of normal use, and all the knives seem well-balanced and are comfortable to use. The butcher's block is a hefty chunk of varnished wood, solid and weighty, and the set as a whole feels like an old classic with the benefit of modern design. Awesome knife set I plan to use for a long time.

I have this set for 8 years and haven’t had any issues with rust or blades breaking. I’m not a chef or anything but use them regularly. One thing I will say is the “self-sharpening” doesn’t really sharpen all the blades. A few of them get very dull and have to be sharpened by other means. 8 years and still going strong?! Great investment!

The best knife set I've ever used, the blades are sharp and versatile. I love the built in sharpener, though I wish the steak knives had one as well (sharpeners are just for the top row). They clean easily have so far have not blemishes in any way. I make sure to handwash as the instructions say, but wish you could just throw them in the dishwasher. A bit pricey, but definitely a quality purchase and cheaper than comparable sets.

I am pleased with my order and the knives seem to be great. I haven't used them enough to know if they really do stay sharp but I do like the holder and it feels they are being sharpened when I pull them out. The knives themselves feel very strong but not heavy, which I like, they also look very nice on the counter. I received the package in a timely manner and they were packaged well. I purchased a gift for my mother that was very close to this but I paid over twice the price. Mom loved them enough that I wanted some for me so I ordered these. I am very pleased.

These are absolutely horrible .. you would think as much as they were they would be somewhat high quality ... In under 4 months they've rusted and two tips have broken off ... Do not waste your money ..

Beautiful block, nice, heavy, sharp top row (of block) larger knives but the lower row of 5" steak knives aren't very sturdy or what I'd consider steak knives. I was hoping by looking at the minimal pictures provided that they were wider, heavier steak knives such as those found in a steakhouse...but no. These have a rather thin blade and bend with pressure. They look like an old cheap, thin serrated knife you probably already have from your Grandmother's collection of K-Mart knives from the 1960's that hasn't seen the outside of your junk drawer for years - much less has it been near a fine steak. This is too bad since the rest of the block set is fine, and much more substantial in feel and quality. It looks as though the lower row of "steak knives" was thrown in as an afterthought and IMO just to market 11 knives but with only 5 of them being worth anything (again, those in the top row). I unwrapped the block, then the larger knives and thought it was a nice set for the price....not top-shelf cutlery but ok for my purposes. THEN I got to the "steak knives" and thought they must be kidding....really??? PROBLEM SOLVED: I decided to search for other Sabatier steak knives with handles matching the others in this block set and found them! They may sell them through Amazon but didn't at the time so I found them on Target.com. They are a set of 4 knives called "Chop House Steak Knives" and they are exactly what I wanted and expected in this set but didn't get. They are $19.99 I believe on Target.com. Obviously this block holds 6 knives on the lower row so I purchased 2 packages. I'll then have two left out of the block as extras for guests which is great. I was concerned perhaps that maybe they would not fit into this block as they have a wider, more sturdy blade but they do! It's snug and it gives no room between the handles but it still looks as if they could have easily come with this block. If they had looked odd in the block I wouldn't have kept them but it looks just fine to me. I just gave the other slimmer, less sturdy knives that came with the block to a younger neighbor who needed anything and everything in the way of kitchenware so she was grateful. WIN-WIN, EXCEPT FOR THE EXTRA $40 I had to spend to get decent steak knives but it was worth it to me. I would've been embarrassed to hand a guest who came over for dinner one of the other wimpy knives!---I can just see the knife buckling and a $20 portion of a Filet Mignon or a similar thick cut of anything be wasted sailing off the plate onto the floor! No thanks...I'll spend the extra $40 to avoid that. I could see using the lesser quality knives for a soft fish maybe but not a thick steak or chicken, etc...
