Arrived in a thin plain cardboard box after opening it I can see that some of the components were new, but that the main motor unit had been used and cleaned after putting it all together. It ran for about 30 seconds and that was it had to return the item.

    • I love what it does.. but it will break down within a year
So I love the idea of these. I have owned two of them and both of them broke within a year. But I just find it so easy to go around the yard and suck all the leaves and debris up. I mean I think they are worth it but understand that they will stop working after a year. I am now on my 3rd one. I bought the insurance coverage with Home Depot so that now when it breaks down again.. i'll get a new one. ... show more

    • Sorry I can’t agree with the negative comments.
I was skeptical and the first half hour of use seemed to corroborate their findings, however this machine doesn’t like twigs or wet leaves so I blew the leaves out from the bottom of the ugly bushes they were trapped under and in the process the leaves started to dry. I changed the base to vacuum again and the big pile of now dry leaves were sucked into the bag with no problem. When I was done the bag was half full so I put it in the garbage cans and opened the double zipper with the handy fabric that joined the zippers and the powder fell into the can. What a fun machine. It is a little heavy but by fall I will be used to wielding it and doubly glad I kept it. It is amazing. It went through the batteries pretty quickly but the other battery was charged when the first one died. I would then switch them and same with the second one. I didn’t have to wait for the battery, it charged very fast. I can’t wait to use this again. My place looks good and my wife is happy! ... show more

    • Bulky, Clogs Easily, Doesn't Vacuum Very Well
Pretty bad. Doesn’t suck very well. Yet the unit sucks!! It’s bulky, heavy and doesn't draw very well. Got clogged a few times. The shute is a pain to try and remove. I wonder who came up with that design. I bought a different unit for much less and came with 2 - 20v batteries. It was much lighter and cleaned up so much better and easier. I really don't recommend this Ryobi unit. ... show more

    • Good for homeowner sized jobs
I bought it used-like new for good savings, since I already have batteries. Clearly prior customer couldn’t figure out how to switch from vaccuum to blower, and broke a small piece of the plastic. It still works fine and hadn’t actually done any work yet to even get dirty. Not as powerful at blowing as many others, but is a trade off to be able to also vaccuum and mulch leaves. This is not for doing your whole yard! For a smaller area like my driveway or a flower bed, this vacuum will be great. As a blower, it will be much faster and easier than sweeping my garage. It also will blow the dusty air out, so I don’t end up quite as filthy. For what I need, I’m happy and would buy again. As a landscaper trying to do bigger or longer jobs, battery life would be a killer. ... show more

    • The worst "vaccum" money can buy
I am a huge Ryobi tool fan. I have a wall of green in my workshop. However, this vacuum is useless. Even with dry leaves, it will jam in a heartbeat and make any job twice or three times longer than it needs to be. I wish I could go back and not purchase this thing. Forget those positive reviews on YouTube. If you look you will see they are a bunch of jump shot and they got the thing as a paid promotion. Please save yourself the heartache and a LOT of money.     • Broke it in a Month
I was very excited to get a decent leaf vacuum and this one seemed impressive. I looked at a couple of utubes, and on line reviews, and thought it would be great. I was wrong - BE WARY!! this is an expensive tool, and there are some design flaws that make it a poor value. first - I have a large yard, and typically destroy Leaf vacuums in a couple of years, so full disclosure I'm not easy on the tools. I have lots of trees, so sticks etc get picked up. Also, I never used this as a blower, so not sure how it works and not reviewing that capability. The good = great mulcher , good battery life, and like the overall design The bad = gets VERY heavy once the bag fills, not easy to use with standard handle, and If you have a big yard, with lots of sticks you will break it. - the biggest flaw I experienced is within the tool. In front of the impeller, it has a plastic circular guard, and that guard got punctured ( sticks flying around in the casing ). Once the guard breaks, the material goes inside the housing of the tool and you can no longer remove the bag or switch to blower. You MUST take the tool apart. There is no other way to clear the housing, and taking it apart / getting it back together is a chore. that's why I only give it 2 stars. ... show more
