So this thing works very well. It's fairly effortless to run and it's easy to have one hand holding things in place with the other running this tool. However, I bought this before I bought the regular hand tool, and if I had bought the hand tool first and used it enough I probably would not have bought this battery operated crimper. The hand tool works fine, it's not as convenient and it will definitely wear you out if you're going to be doing it all day but I am working at home on projects for irrigation and plumbing repair. This battery operated crimper was really overkill for me. Even if you already have Ryobi batteries and tools I don't think you're going to want to buy this unless you are doing multiple jobs. I love this thing. Before I had it, I was manually crimping rings by hand, which if you have the room to do it, it works. If you don’t have the space to do it, it just won’t. In steps the Ryobi tool. This thing is stout. It’s a one-button operation, has a built in go/no-go gauge, a pocket clip (it’ll pull your pants down. This thing’s heavy), and works with 18v Ryobi batteries. It’s a powerful and fast crimper, it’s just the right size to fit into very tight spaces, and it makes your jobs go so much faster. If you’re working with PEX, you need this tool.     • Crimps with little effort, fast
I just installed a new hybrid water heater and am so happy with this Ryobi Pex B crimping tool. I was considering using copper pipe with press fittings and am so glad I found Pex B and crimps. My copper crimping tool is very heavy and requires a lot of pumping to get the job done. While it works, it is also a workout. The Ryobi let me do a crimp in less than a minute. I am not sure how often I will need to use this in the future, but it was worth the cost just in terms of the time saved on this job. As I am no plumbing expert, I probably had to do a lot more crimps than a professional. I also had to redo a couple of pipes due to my learning on the job. The tool is very easy to use. You need to calibrate it to insure it crimps properly, but that just takes a few minutes. It is not light but is not too heavy. Since the tool does all the work, the heft is not a problem. It has a nice rubberized surface that is very comfortable. Once your Pex B is in place and your crimp is aligned, just place the jaws over the crimp and pull the trigger. The tool will tell you if your crimp was successful. I normally crimped twice, for my peace of mind. So far, all of my crimps are water tight. ... show more
