  • Wide-ranging and fascinating
I devoured this book. Organized chronologically and primarily by decade, the book's chapters each begin with a summary of the key developments and impacts on RVing for that period. Many books seem to dwell on the mechanical innovations of recreational vehicles while others focus on the companies and inventors. This book touches on the most important of those while also providing scaffolding other books miss: the impact of Hoovervilles, for example, on how tent campers were perceived and how that drove changes in early campers is something I'd not read in other books. The illustrations are fantastic, showing common and very uncommon rigs through time. I found myself staring at some of the photos for a long minute, and appreciated the captions that explained what might have been missed on first glance. On top of all that, the bibliography is extensive and a great resource on its own. For any serious researcher into the history and development of campers and RVs, this book is a must-read. ... show more

I bought this book for my husband, as it was on his Amazon wish list. He loves it and it’s a great coffee table book.

  • Motorhomes!
Some people hate them, some people love them, some people build them, some people restore them, I do all the above! This is just one more book in my collection of Information, Data, Images and Knowledge!

  • lots a random snap shots
Somewhat interesting collection of old disconnected photo of random RVs. Not a lot of research on the various rigs on how they came about or what happened to them. Not much insight on how the industry evolved.

  • The book is cool, thought and I'll keep it in my collection
I was looking for pictures of my 58 Garwood. There was nothing in this book about this rare model. I cannot find anything in print for this model! The book is cool, thought and I'll keep it in my collection!

  • Soft cover
I would have liked to see MORE about the slide in campers. But as a RV history book, its good.

  • Past Published Books
To have the availability to get a book like this is why I always use Amazon. In the old days it was going to the library and then having to return the book. I like it this way.
