When you pick this thing up and feel the full weight you think, "there's no way Im going to be able to put this on". Then you carefully slide in to it and realize that the perfect weight distribution makes this pretty darn bearable. In fact, your legs are more likely to get tired than your back is! I needed this to train for a fitness test coming up. I love the ease of adjusting the weight to what I want, and the 5 pockets on both sides give you options for where you put the weights. Its comfortable and the lower chest band gives great support. I didnt get the ones with the shoulder pads, and while I do think they would make it more comfortable, you can easily add your own make shift padding that will do the same thing. This is a great exercise tool to really help you build muscle and strength. Its very good quality and seems like it will be durable over time. ... show more

Nice weight vest, does what its supposed to. Velcro straps on each side can make it fit snugly. Weight is distributed evenly on front and back. Def get the shoulder pads. I use it for elliptical machine at home. Before this I would hold a medicine ball while on machine but that was hurting my back after prolonged use so I like the even weight distribution of this vest. Only got the 20lb vest which is plenty for me (and can easily knock it down to 10lbs etc). It 100% looks like a SWAT team vest so I probably won't wear it outside, but that's just me. ... show more

I got the 40 lb version with shoulder pads for about $63, and now I see it’s almost double that. Honestly, it’s still worth it. Each weight pouch (sand) is around 4 lbs, so you can easily adjust the load depending on the exercise. I use 16 lbs for my 4-mile weekend walks and it adds just the right challenge. I’ve also worn the full 40 lbs, and trust me, the shoulder pads make a huge difference. Without them, the weight would dig in too much. Pros: Adjustable weight in small chunks Shoulder pads actually help with comfort Feels secure during movement Good value for what you get No weird smell Seems durable and fits great Cons: Looks a bit intense from afar. A couple people thought I was a cop Might feel awkward the first time you wear it Once you get used to it, it just becomes part of your routine. This vest is amazing, although we haven’t had it for very long but it’s definitely well made. My husband bought it for himself but I keep stealing it and using it for my walks around the neighborhood the fit is adjustable so it’s perfect for both of us. It goes on very easy and you can choose the right weight that works best for you. Each bag weighs 4 lbs and there are 10 bags. I started with 4 (2 in the back and 2 in the front). I personally don’t think you need the extra shoulder pads. The color is black and that’s great. There is a little bit of a smell but that’s because it’s new. The only con I can think of is the “ phone holder “ isn’t very convenient, but that’s just my opinion. ... show more
