I finally replaced a really old, cranky foldable step stool with this and I can't believe the difference. There are so many things that Rubbermaid got right on this one. It stores easily and is very sturdy. It is ridiculously simple to press a small tab on the top step as you bring it in to fold. So smooth. It's very easy to carry around. When it's open, that strong handle on top makes it much safer to go from bottom to top step with full balance control. The steps are a good size for firm footing. This thing is wonderful! I don't write many reviews, but this is worth sharing. I've needed something to stand on in the shop and for various outside chores like windows, pruning climbing roses, etc. without having to haul out a ladder. This is super sturdy, folds easily, and is very solid to stand on when it's on concrete, sidewalk, or other hard surface. The handle is perfect as a place to brace your knees when up on the top step, and tall enough for balancing to get up and down. The stepstool is fairly heavy since it's built so solid, but easy enough to maneuver around. Great bargain and gets used almost every day. Should last a long time from the looks of the quality. Nice quality step ladder. It’s very stable - not at all rickety. The only downside is the weight which is considerable for a general use interior ladder. That appears to be the only obvious downside to the ladder. I took off a star because of the weight. Even my daughter thought it was very heavy. I like 3 step ladders because the second step is more stable than the 2nd step on a 2 step ladder. The weight will keep it more stable than the lightweight ones so it’s a tradeoff. I would have given it 4.5 stars if it was available . I didn’t think it would be that heavy so I didn’t bother to compare weights of different ladders on Amazon - so basically mostly my mistake. ... show more
