I've been trying to cut down utility costs and I hate running my old and loud heater at night. An electric blanket seemed like a good alternative so I went with Sunbeam because it is a semi-reputable brand for the sake of safety. Sunbeam isn't Sunbeam anymore, but they haven't tanked their reputation with poor quality goods yet so they are still in the tail end of enjoying their brand's name and making decent products. The blanket is super easy to use. The controller lets you set the temperature and how many hours you want it left on for. The wiring is very robust and the blanket is well made with no loose stitching or any other issues. It's very soft and comfortable. The only hard part is the cable coming out of the side and you'll really never notice it. I'd say the bulk of the blanket stays warm except for maybe 6 inches around the edges. I have a thermal camera and could see that the wires zig zagged right within that region when the heat was cranked up so that seemed to line up with what I could feel. Seems fine to me, the bulk of it is very warm and that's all I needed. You do need to be careful with an electric blanket; don't sharply crease or fold it, don't get it wet, don't get it dirty as you don't want to wash it too often. I usually put it on top over everything else and can still stay very warm. It's worked consistently and I've never had any issues with it. Plus I don't have to waste money to run my air heater anymore. I usually run it for an hour before bed and an hour in the morning and that's it, yet I can still sleep very warmly and comfortably. Really has a long heart, the last one I had had a short one. I like this one better. I don't know which one heats better but this one seems to work good. I like the time or better. Seems like a good product to me. I would buy another one. Matter of fact I might get my wife one for Christmas. She has a bigger bed. I have to sleep sleep back in the room by myself. I'm disabled. Can't walk. It's nice and soft to me. Has a nice texture to it. My wife needs one. I think I might get her a queen size. Hope it has two heat controls. I like being able to turn it up to 12 hours when I feel like it couldn't do that on my old one either. It ran out at 12:00 on this one. If it's at 6:00 you can go ahead and turn that back up to 12. You can really leave it on all day if you want to. Hadn't had it that long. I hope it lasts. ... show more

I’ve had this blanket a few weeks and I love it. Saves a ton on heating bills! Even if it were to cost the same, it keeps me much warmer than having the wall furnace in the living room on full blast while I sleep in the bedroom. (No furnace in the bedroom). It gets warm pretty quickly. Yes it’s thin and you can feel the wires but I think that’s the point. If it were thick, then the blanket material would insulate the user from the heat of the wires. The point is to feel the heat of the wires, which requires less insulation, so it only makes sense to have thinner blanket material. I use a sheet under the blanket and a comforter over it. I barely notice the wires. I got this brand name electric blanket because I read numerous reviews of another electric blanket that has a nearly 5.0 rating stating that it stopped working after three months and the customer care was nonexistent. In contrast, I figure that SunBeam will stand behind its product. Yes a bit more expensive but not too bad. I had an electric blanket as a kid and then didn’t have one for about 40 years. Wow, I waited way too long!!! I had forgotten how comfortable it is not to freeze in my bed while I wait for my body heat and breath to warm it up! I really recommend this blanket. Just keep in mind that I’ve only had it a few weeks as I’m writing this, so I can’t speak to longevity. Update: I’ve had this blanket a few months, and I still love it! Yes, it can seem a little uneven in the heating sometimes, but it’s not too bad, and I’m not sure if any other blanket would be better. We are still taking about the same technology, and I think that all reasonably priced wires are predisposed to that. I have the dual control king/cal king, and I turn both sides in to the same setting since I sleep alone. Yah it’s great. I highly recommend it! ... show more

    • Good, Better, Best? I'd say Good.
Traditionally I am known as a "hottie" in my household. But after having surgery I am now a "coldie". Anyway, I bought this for my bed because I was always freezing. I love that I can turn this on 5 minutes before bed and my bed is warm. I will say that over time the blanket doesn't seem to heat as much. It's as if it is slowly losing its heating power. But, its still warm and heats up my bed nicely. Overall I am pleased with the blanket although the controller that came with it only offers a "tap" adjustment. You can tap 1-5 times to adjust the heat level. I would like to see a more precise controller that you can adjust the heat to somewhere in between those 5 levels. Perhaps a dial type controller would be best so you can find that sweet heat spot? Anyway, If you need a good working blanket that does the job for a reasonable price. You can't go wrong with this one. I will order it again when this one dies. ... show more
