I am very satisfied with my new Beautyrest throw blanket. The electric coils are in the middle with about 12 inches of the periphery without heating coils. It heats up very quickly in about 2 minutes. Unlike the larger Beautyrest electric blankets, this model has only an on and off and three heat settings low medium and high and an automatic 2 hour shut off. These settings are sufficient for me. The material is medium weight and very soft and plush. This is unlike other electric blankets that use a sherpa material. I cannot speak of the durability and washing of the blanket since I have not had it very long. It will only be used on occasion when the night time temperature reaches 15° F as it did recently in New York City. If any problems develop, I will update my ratings. I hope my comments have helped you in making a buying decision. Update... I have now owned my throw for over 1 year and have been very satisfied. So, I reordered a throw and gave it to my friend as a gift. He said that he absolutely loves everything about this blanket... So again another five-star rating.

This was the best blanket ever - for about 3 months (I purchased it at the end of September and it died December 31). I am always cold, so I use an electric blanket every night, year round. My previous blanket was a sunbeam, and I had it for at least 5 years. I loved it, but it wasn’t very soft and the wires could be felt. I wasn’t particularly sorry when it died because it meant I could find a new one that I hoped would be softer. Also, I was sometimes cold, even with my blanket on full hot and a light comforter on top to reflect the heat back. I was super excited, then, when I found this blanket. Its 20 levels of heat meant that sometimes I would get too hot and didn’t actually need it on full heat! And if the bed got messed up and the sheet moved so the blanket was directly on me, that was just fine, because it’s SUPER soft and I can’t feel the wires! Also, the preheat/boost option was amazing because I no longer had to wait 15 minutes for the blanket to heat up - it would start to get warm almost immediately!! I thought I had found the best possible solution - until it quit working after 3 months!! The first day, I woke up and realized my blanket was not on. I looked over and saw an error code on my controller (it said E2). I unplugged the controller from the wall and the blanket, let it sit for a while, plugged it back in, and it was fine. The next morning, same code on the controller, so I unplugged it again and actually left it unplugged all day. This time, however, the controller did not reset. I have 2 controllers, so I thought I’d try it on the other side - no luck! I also put the other controller onto the blanket (essentially switching the controllers and the sides of the blanket they were on - no luck)! I finally ended up putting the good controller and the good side of the blanket on my side (my husband doesn’t need heat), so I could have heat, but I also looked into getting it replaced. Amazon can’t help in this case because there’s an existing warranty on the blanket, so I had to submit a claim through JLAHome. Their work hours were not the greatest - open super early (7:00am) but not very late (closed at 3:30pm). It took me a week to finally get through at a good time. I told the lady on the other end the issue, and then she asked if I had done all of the troubleshooting. She said that there was a booklet included with my blanket - I didn’t see one, but I have the packaging it came in. So then she asked me what the problem was - even though I had just told her - and she asked me where I had purchased it (again, something I told her). After verifying more details that I had given her (the fact that I had purchased a king sized blanket and have 2 controllers), and that only one side of the blanket is currently working with one controller, she submitted a claim. However, there are no king sized blankets in stock, and they won’t have them for 3 weeks! That’s not even the worst part! The worst part is that they can’t just put the order in and have the blanket shipped to me when it is in stock. Instead, I have to wait for 3 weeks, call in, give them the claim #, and hopefully they will have it in stock then to send to me. And then hopefully that blanket lasts longer than this one has!!

THE softest electric blanket Ive ever owned. Never get fleece bc after a few yrs, they feel like sand paper! This one has low or No EMF field. I can't remember. I was raise under electric blankets until my last two. I never knew about EMF but now I do. I feel much safer using Low or No EMF electric blankets. This one feels so soft and lovely. I got it on sale and for 62 bucks it was well worth the low price. THE blanket is kindof thin so u can really feel the wires but I always use it between covers so I can't feel the wires. I never lie ontop of it bc I want it to last. It's not good for the wires. I love the control. It has 1 soft light just to see the setting. Unlike my last one that had so many lights I had to tape over it. Horrible for sleep. Anyway, I love my blanket. Ive had it for a couple months and so far so good. Just treat it with respect and it will respect you back.

I purchased this in Full size Teal. The teal looked more turquoise online, but it is definitely teal. It is very pretty. Very luxurious and expensive looking. Quite beautiful.The Full only comes with one control, which is weird, because they used to come with 2. So my spouse gets to control the weather at night. It works great. No complaints on that score. We have a queen size bed, and the wires in the Full size completely cover the top of our mattress. The blanket overhangs about a foot on each side, but with no wires. Works for us. I do wish that they had run the wires up higher at the top of the blanket so that the warmth would come up the chest, instead of stopping at your navel. I don't mind that the wires don't go all the way to the bottom. But there is so much at the top that is not heated. This was a dumb idea. No doubt to save them money in production. I know that fleece blankets are all the rage right now, but I would really prefer a regular blanket material like they used to make. For some reason, this blanket grabs our sheet and sends it over to my husbands side of the bed. The blanket, and the quilt on top of the blanket, stay in place, but the sheet, which starts out overhanging my side of the bed by about 18 inches before we go to bed, ends up with about 6, or even less, inches by the next morning. We've never had this problem before. I blame the fleece. Our next blanket will not be fleece. I'd give it 5 stars instead of 4 if the wires came up higher, and it didn't push my sheet off the bed, and if it had 2 controls. We could have gotten a Queen size, but we don't like a giant blanket...we like to be able to stick our feet out the side whens it gets too warm. The Full size works for us. UPDATE: It's been unusually cold lately, and preheating our bed is a joy, but getting in bed and finding that it's cold from the waist up is getting more and more annoying. The wires stop a full 12 to 13 inches from the top of the blanket, leaving your chest and arms to freeze. Who decided this???? (My older throw has wires that stop about 8 inches from the top.) What's next? Wires that stop 24" from the top? Maybe no wires at all? Do it right, or don't bother to do it at all. Please.

I absolutely adore this blanket, but buyers should definitely beware! I love the color (I got the pale purple), and I love that it has 20 heat settings, so you can easily find just the right setting for the moment. It heats up very quickly (like, minutes), and turns itself off after ten hours -- without needing to be programmed to do so. It also cools relatively quickly (especially if exposed to the air, vs being under a comforter), if, like me, you accidentally make it too hot sometimes. It's very soft, not too heavy, and is machine washable. It also has reeeally long cords, and dual, easy-to-use controls for each side, which is a must if you sleep with a partner. I love to crank it up to 15 at night, and then just turn it off and let it cool as I fall asleep. However... This blanket stops working after about six months. Just all of a sudden, and there's nothing you can do to fix it. Some of the inner workings (the heat coils, the electrical cords) are very delicate, and are easily damaged, and once they've been damaged, there's no fixing them. I've gone through about four of these blankets in about three years. Some work a little longer than others, but it seems like the more you use it, the faster it wears out; my current one has stopped working after just FOUR MONTHS! BeautyRest is supposed to insure them for two years, and, after jumping through some hoops for them, they wwwill replace one that wears out in less time -- but they won't necessarily replace it with the exact same blanket (like, they wouldn't send me another pale purple one, which was kinda messed up since I'd paid a lot more for that particular color). Unfortunately, I also had to buy a king for my queen bed (which is considerably more expensive), because these blankets are a weird shape/size. Honestly, buying a size up helps, but not much; it's how they're made. Not all of the blanket has heat, there are sections of just regular blanket around the edges, and the proportions of the heated sections are strange. The width of the heated portion only covers the bed on the top portion while laying flat (none of the heated portion goes past/over the sides of the bed), so, when you're underneath it, it doesn't quite reach far enough across to cover you. There's also a strip that doesn't have heat going up the middle of the blanket, dividing the two heated sides. The blanket itself just barely reaches from the foot to the head, so the length of the heated portion only goes from your feet to your chest; the six inches of blanket at the head is just blanket, so you have to pull the heated portion higher on the bed to cover you, leaving the blanket untucked at the foot, so it comes loose really easily. Even with a king on my queen mattress, it just barely covers; buying a size up eliminates the width problem, but not the length problem. If you're wondering why I'd even bother getting another of the same blanket if they wear out so fast, the answer is that it's still a better blanket than most of the others out there. Most heated blankets seem to wear out rather quickly, and at least these last six months and work great during that time; I've had others die even faster on me, and these are at least really nice blankets. If you only use it in the winter, it will probably last longer (especially if you take good care of the cords and fold it carefully to not damage the heating coils); if you use it year-round, like I do, expect it to wear out faster. I honestly think it's ridiculous that they wear out so quickly, but I've just accepted that it'll probably have to be replaced once or twice a year. We love this blanket. It is our second try. This is NOT one of those heavy/thick heating blankets with sherpa fleece on one side. They are nice for those who like to feel weighted down and really warm. This one is lovely, lightweight, and we use it with a sheet under it and a thin blanket over it, as directed by the blanket instructions. Has a great pre-heating feature that automatically changes to your preferred heat level after about an hour or so, so you can get into a nice toasty warm bed. It's light enough that we don't feel weighed down, which is the way we like it! So if you're looking for a thick fluffy weighty blanket with sherpa, this is not it. And by the way, we used double-stick velcro to mount the controllers on the SIDE of our bedside tables facing our individual pillows in bed, so they can be easily seen and reached to change the 20 heat settings (and not take up room on top of your bedside table).
