Well, it weighs a ton and comes in 5 boxes (I think - son opened them up before I got there). The instructions are a bit basic, but still easy to follow and thorough. The parts were ALL marked and the hardware came is a lot of bags that were also well marked. They did provide a few extra screws and such for most all of the hardware bags, so I was a bit nervous that I was missing something until I counted out the number needed before starting on a step. The only llpart of the instruction and kit that was not so great was the way they wanted to attach to a brick wall. The brackets we specifically sized to fit only if the bed cabinets were flush against the "brick wall". Well, since we were installing it to a standard drywall on 2x4 studs at 16" centers, we had a couple "minor" issues. First issue is the cabinets were 5/8" away from the wall due to the floor trim on the wall. We solved that by 3-d printing some spacers (could have just cut some 5/8" thick spacers, but what the heck, 3-d print it if you can!). The second issue is that the spacing was just a little bit off for 16" centered wall studs, so two of the brackets could be easily screwed into the wall with the cabinet there. The two on the other side required us to drill access holes through the back "wall" of the shelving unit. Yes, we attached the brackets first to the cabinets, and then attached the brackets to the wall using the spacers to make it all work and stay perfectly vertical. We used 1/4" lag bolts to attach to the wall "(we had to buy these ourselves). Everything else went together easily. It works great and looks pretty good. BTW, I used this mattress, which fit perfectly and was very comfortable and heavy enough to make the mechanism work correctly (Life Balance Queen Size Mattress 10 Inch, Cooling Gel Memory Foam Mattress for Back Pain, Motion Isolation, Pressure Relief, Fiberglass Free, CertiPUR-US Certified, Medium Firm Mattress in a Box").

Overall, for the price point, my very honest review for the Murphy Bed is 2 stars... *READ DIRECTIONS VERY CAREFULLY SO YOU DON'T MISS ANY STEPS* QUALITY & DETAILS: 1 STAR ⭐ For starters, some of the screws didn’t fit, didn’t align or aren’t holding the materials in place like they should be. So that was frustrating, especially when building it. From a distance, it doesn't look bad. But I'm a very handy and detailed person so once you start looking closely, there's a lot of flaws that I can't un-see. It came with (I believe) 8 big clear screw covers for the big holes that are cheap/flimsy and those were the only screw covers. We had to buy white stickers to cover all the rest of the exposed screws because it just looked cheap and tacky. The cabinet doors came with hinges that you could play around with as far as where the cabinet door sits. You can move back-to-front, side-to-side and up-and-down. It seemed like a nice quality at first but after spending hourssss trying to get them ‘perfect’, I eventually had to accept I wasn’t getting them all perfectly aligned. I wish the cabinet doors would have come perfectly sized to fit where they need to fit. The gold handles are very light and cheap. I swapped ours for black handles. When the bed is down, there’s a huge gap (maybe 6-8”) between the top of the mattress and the back panel against the wall. When the bed is stored away, there’s a huge gap at the top which seems unnecessary, in my opinion. The “crown molding” isn’t flush across the top because it came in two pieces instead of one long piece and there’s gaps between each piece on the corners. You can’t see it in the pictures but one of the pieces on the top right is just sitting up there because the screw wouldn’t hold it in place. Putting the six panels together on the front middle part (when the bed is stored away), was incredibly frustrating for my husband and I. The screws weren’t holding, the panels are flimsy and you have to be super careful in order to keep it held together, otherwise parts start falling apart and it’s hard to keep together. Some of the “wood” is chipped and gets dirty really quickly. It's hard to see in the picture, but if you look closely when the bed is stored away, that entire middle part sits tightly on the right side and loosely on the left side so there's a gap there as well. Overall, the quality of the materials are quite cheap, especially for the price point. It works for our current space but for our next home, we both agreed we would rather pay more and get better quality, especially because Murphy Beds feel like an almost permanent purchase that will stay with the house forever (haha). CUSTOMER SERVICE: 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I emailed customer service because I had a lot of questions, comments, and concerns. Wendy responded very quickly and was amazing! She answered all of my questions, was very thorough and I gave her some suggested advice to add to their info description that would make things more clear for customers reading. She was very nice, receptive, and appreciative of it. MATTRESS SIZE (HEIGHT): 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ When I bought the Murphy Bed back in December of 2025, in the description it said "recommended mattress size is 8-10 inches tall”. After putting the bed frame together, we put our 12” foam mattress on the bed frame and it actually fit, which we weren’t expecting, so that was a very pleasant surprise. We also really appreciate the two plug ins on either side of the bed for our guests to use.

The instructions indicate that this is to be securely mounted to a BRICK wall, otherwise engage a professional for installation. Four people are required to raise the main assembly (carefully!!) to a standing position. Don't attempt it with less. Strongly recommend a memory foam mattress as there is no foundation to speak of. This is being used as a guest bed in a multi use spare room. Reasonable value for the money as long as you recognize it's not made from solid wood and should be treated as "light duty".

NIGHTMARE ASSEMBLY! So, after several weeks of comparison shopping for a nice Murphy bed, I decided on this one despite the additional ridiculous $300 shipping fee even as a Prime member. I ordered it on a Sunday and it arrived Tuesday (10 days earlier than I was told it would arrive so make sure your space is ready asap). Me and my husband fully expected it to take us an entire day to assemble, we are both very handy and capable DIY people that do most of our own projects. Little did we know what a freaking nightmare this bed would turn into. Today is day 2 of assembly and we still aren’t done. I’m just so mad that I couldn’t wait for completion to write this review. The instructions (I use that term VERY loosely bc the garbage included is far from instructive) basically only shows you the parts you’ll need but not really an order in which to assemble them or what section you’re assembling. We figured it out though, mostly. It wasn’t until the cabinets were fully assembled and upright when we saw that the shelves with the outlet cutouts were upside down because the instructions on that step didn’t specify that the outlets get screwed in from the topside not the underneath like everything else in this build (Our shelves now have the holes on the bottom because of this). Since the cabinets were fully assembled at this point, there was no way to fix this without removing a crap ton of support elements so it can’t be easily fixed. Now we will be drilling our own holes to install the outlets from topside. Next, when assembling the mattress pull down door section, nothing lines up properly. In order to get the male camlocks to go into the female camlocks far enough for the females to twist and be secure, I had to use a flathead in one female to push the male down into the other connecting female so I could then twist and secure that male properly. Do that at least 20 more times and see how much fun you have assembling that section. Don’t even get me started on the anchoring of this unit. ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY A JOKE! First, they don’t even provide you with the proper hardware to mount this thing to a normal wall (drywall/wood stud). They give you hardware for brick! Who in their right mind is installing these into a bedroom with brick walls?!?! Not one person in these reviews is anchoring this bed to a brick wall. So, after getting the CORRECT anchoring bolts, we go to attach this thing to the walls only to find out that these morons didn’t account for the space added between the wall and the bed frame from baseboards when they made the pre-drilled holes in the bed frame for the L-brackets. So, I have my brackets all nicely anchored into my wall but can’t screw them into the bed frame because the holes do not line up. Now, I get to make custom shims to make my brackets reach the freaking holes! As I wait for the glue to dry on my shims, I’m writing this review to warn others to STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS BED!!! I have no idea what other stupidity I’ll run into upon completing assembly of this bed but let me also mention the cosmetic issues that it arrived with. As I assemble, I keep finding gashes in parts and one of my top trim pieces you can clearly see where they drilled holes into it in the wrong spots, filled the holes then re-drilled them in the correct spots. Thank goodness it’s on the very top and hidden from view but that compromises the integrity of that piece. And, as another reviewer stated, why on earth is that top center crown trim piece in two parts? That should be one solid piece so you don’t have that tacky joint dead center. If the headboard can be a solid piece then so can that trim piece. This seller makes it to where you basically can’t remove the parts out of the original boxes and inspect them for issues first because at that point, you can no longer re-package them back up perfectly the way they require it for returns. So everything we have found wrong cosmetically and mechanically, wasn’t found until it was way too late to re-package for return. Once this bed is completed, I will edit this review with updates. Just do yourself a favor and buy a different bed, don’t be me wasting my Valentines weekend (and more days this week) putting this garbage together.

Needed an extra bed for an occasional guest. The bed came with all parts and it looks great in our exercise room. Assembly instructions were clear and all parts worked as described. It took us about 10 hours to put it together so plan for a full day of work to get it all together. Securing to Sheetrock wall will require additional support boards since it is unlikely the braces will hit the 2 x 4’s. We are happy with our purchase.
