I like it has a top that a chick can't suddenly jump up and fall into. When the chicks 1st arrive, no legs up works fine. Once they gain some size, putting the legs up, helps reduce flicking and waste and stays cleaner as the chicks aren't jumping onto it. It holds about a litre or quart as you will and was sturdy enough they aren't tipping it so far. I'd like a 2 quart waterer like this with feet for the same purpose. Imo, all waterers and feeders should have this leg feature. It only adjusts once but the legs snap into place. ... show more

We are raising some chicks; they are about 3 1/2 weeks old now. These feeders/waterers are OK, but the "adjustable legs" leave something to be desired. They do not "lock in place"; they are rather flimsy. I would say, the concept is good, because the adjustable height is great for them as they grow, but they could be constructed in a better manner so that they really do lock in place. ... show more

I am new to chicken ownership, so I wasn't sure about a good watering/feeding system for the girls (two Rhode Island Reds). This set fits the bill, and are holding up very well. I like the option of being able to hang them as the girls gets pretty rambunctious with their scratching the ground. Even when the night temps drop, and the water freezes, the waterer has not broken or cracked, and is very easy to take apart, clean and remove the ice, and refill. The media could not be loaded. This is the BEST feeder and waterer set I’ve ever used. Can be used for anything from day old chicks to adult chickens with the adjustable height on the legs on both the feeder and waterer. Love that the feeder has the lid so it’s very easy to fill. Every piece snaps together and feels very secure. These pieces will last a very long time due to the thickness & quality of the materials. Well, I love this feeder waterer. It’s the perfect size for our tiny 3 bird flock, however, we have discovered you have to keep the waterer completely level otherwise it leaks out. We have a chicken tractor that we move around our yard, and some areas are slightly sloped. I’m going to try hanging it from the top of the run, hopefully that fixes the problem. I bought this for baby chicks. The feeder works great, I would fill it up once in the morning and the chicks would be good all day long. The waterer worked great until about 7 weeks, then they would drink so much I would have to fill it up twice. I eventually upgraded but only because I didn't want to fill it up multiple times a day. I likes that you could fold the legs down so it was closer for the baby chicks and once they got a bit older you can elevate it didn't get so dirty. There would always be bedding or waste in the water so I would clean it out often. the open and close twist lock feature was very nice, easy to clean lip and tray. ... show more

    • Waterer fell over on one of my 6 week old chicks -- DO NOT USE WITH THE LEGS: ONLY HANG

Be wary of using this feeder/waterer using the legs. With only three legs, they are not sturdy, and the waterer toppling over in my coop resulted in the death of two of my 6 week old chicks (one clearly tried to jump on top to roost, which caused it to fall over; it looks like the one who was on top fell into the wall and broke her neck, while the waterer landed on another one of the chicks and crushed her). It was a tragic loss and I am devasted. I ALWAYS confirmed the legs were fully snapped out and both feeder/waterer were stably placed after filling, but I cannot control feisty girls landing on top of feeders/waterers in their coop overnight. The lack of stability of an advertised and widely used feature is obscene. I will never again use this waterer/feeder using the legs, and will only use it by hanging it. ... show more
