This bag is very sturdy. So far I have used it on one 860 mile road trip, during which we experienced several days of 80-90 degree weather with direct sunlight, a few days of light rain, and a several hours of torrential downpour. The bag held up without a problem, and our luggage was undamaged, except it seemed a little damp after the downpour. In the future if I expect heavy rain I'll probably put my luggage in a large garbage bag before loading it in the Cargo Bag just to be safe. Otherwise I feel confident the Cargo Bag will protect my gear. We have rails and cross bars on our SUV, and the Cargo Bag mounted easily with clips on nylon straps. There are enough buckles that I believe if we broke one it wouldn't prevent us from continuing to use the Bag; we'd just shift it slightly and I'm sure we could make it secure. It is light enough that one adult can handle it alone, although it is fairly bulky, so my 21 yr old son and I mounted/loaded it together. We won't use this more than a couple times a year, so I didn't want to pay two, three, or four times more for a more rugged carrier. It looks as if this will work out fine for us. Whether this would hold up to more frequent usage I can't say. A note of caution: there is no way to secure this bag overnight, so if you stop while traveling to your destination, you will have to take it off your vehicle and lock it up, either in your motel room or in your vehicle.

We recently did a family road trip with kids. I was able to store about 5 duffel bags inside of it with no problem. Just push the lugagge onto the anti-skid pad and it does the rest. The trick is to use the non-slip and not to over-tighten the straps. Jst enough to keep it pusehed on the non-slip mat and it does the rest. If you have second thoughts, I can assure you it is a great product. It is definitely an great bag.

This cargo roof bag is very strong, waterproof, and large capacity. It is perfect for family moving and camping. Easy to fold and store after use. Even if the roof does not have slide rails, the bag can be firmly stable to the cargo roof. By the way, the installation and removal can be done by one person easily and quickly.

This thing holds so much stuff! Way bigger than it looks. However, we did end up with water inside. We used ours for our beach trip for boogie boards, sand toys, and beach chairs. I wouldnโt put things inside that had to stay dry.
