  • Good Quality, Strong, Durable and Waterproof
This is my very first purchase of a cargo bag or any kind or cargo roof carrier. I've looked at cargo boxes vs cargo bags. I went with the bag due to the ease of set up, removal and stow away. I ordered the 16 Cubit Feet for our 2018 ford explorer. it was exactly what we needed. The product itself was great. It is exactly what they advertise. I was very happy with it. It is strong and definitely waterproof. Great quality materials and easy to fold after use. We drove over 1,000 miles this summer and the bag performed excellent. We drove in light and very very heavy rain and wind. And the bag protected our items. No rips, no noise on the road. Even driving over 75 MPH.... But I did notice a slight dip in our MPG as mentioned in other reviews of bags and cargo boxes. So that's nothing out of the ordinary. Although you don't need a roof rack but having a cross bar was very helpful. One issue with 16 cubit or a larger bag is that it has to sit on top of the rear cross bar. But it did very well. And I love the fact that you can remove and fold the bag away when we reach our destinations. But here are things I've learned in general for this product or any other carrier bags. First, I had an item that was slightly taller. Although it fit in the bag with other items, but due to the low clearance of our garage, I had to load that item in the bag outside of the garage... And yes, you've guessed it.... In the rain.... Second, getting up and down with opening and closing the bag was getting tiring. We had a long road trip needing overnights in hotel to get to our destinations the next day. To avoid going up and down all the time, we packed a few clothes in one separate bag and keep inside the car with us for the overnight stay to avoid going up and down to unzip and zip the bag. Especially when it rains. That's the only time your items will get wet. Third, Not sure why, but they did not include tie down hooks. Although it doesn't matter if you have a roof rack. But if you don't, those tie down hooks definitely helps. I bought an extra strap with those tie down hooks for extra protection. As for a carrier bag, I think this is the best one out of all the others that I've searched. After our long trip under the natural elements, I have to admit that the bag performed very well. ... show more

  • Easy and useful!
Used appropriately, this is a really nice and sturdy car top carrier. It went on (older Nissan Xterra with the factory roof rails) and packed easily. I tied it down with an extra rope just in case a buckle gave out, because I do believe in going overboard with securing your load so you don’t lose it and kill someone, but the provided straps were quite sturdy and easy to get tightened down. I was happy that the straps were designed to go over the top instead of being sewn onto the sides - this gives some extra security. There was a little extra road noise, but with securing the ends of the straps so there was no flapping around, the extra noise was minimal. We did not encounter rain on this initial trip, but installed correctly, this thing sure seems like it will be as waterproof as a soft carrier can be. (Nothing with zippers and seams can ever be 100% waterproof under all conditions.) You do have to understand the nature of packing and of soft-sided carriers. Don’t use this to pack hard things or things with pointy corners/edges (use it for your soft luggage like duffles and for sleeping bags or tents that are packed correctly with the poles on the inside). Holes will wear in the fabric as you drive. Don’t pack it partway full; it needs to be filled - if there’s too much slack, the extra material getting caught in the wind will wear faster, potentially in a matter of hours. If you want to do either of those things, you need to buy a hard shell carrier. Yeah, those are more expensive. These are the trade-offs you make for having something cheaper and easier to store when it’s not in use. Finally, do follow the instructions for how to install it. I can see in some of the photos posted here complaining about this item that it was not installed according to the included directions. You can’t fault a product for not working correctly when it wasn’t used correctly. I’m quite happy with this carrier, and I know it will continue to be useful! ... show more

  • worked great
We bought this to aid in our move across country. It was easy to install. It held quite a lot and held up throughout our over 1400 mile journey. the material was stronger than I expected an was actually better made than another one we had for years that was more expensive. The stra ps stayed put for the most dfpart. I think we had to adjust them once or twice along the way but we were drivig in some high wind conditions. We drove through rain and none of our items got wet! I would definitely buy another one for our other car if needed. ... show more

  • Works GREAT!!!!!
Purchased this for a trip to Fingerlakes NY. Used two straps and hooked the excess strap thru doors. We did put all the bags in plastic just in case it rained. Well it POURED!!!!!! Drove for six hours in high winds and did I say it POURED!! The bag was great!. Everything stayed dry, not even a tad wet. The only thing was that rain came down the straps in doors. We had towels in back so it soaked it all up. I would say a very good buy!! ... show more

  • Not durable
Straps are not very durable the plastic buckles are not good to be outside on top of a vehicle with. Within 15 minutes the straps were frayed, hadn't even made it to the highway yet.

  • Definitely Waterproof
Purchased for a trip of over 800 miles, and it rained a lot! No leaks, stayed secure, and was roomy enough for three carryon size suitcases.

  • Not waterproof
Traveled 700 miles in consistent rain. When I got to my destination, the inside of the bag was wet. If it weren't for the vacuum storage bags I used for my clothing, everything would have been soaked. The zippers are difficult to open and close, and some velcro has unglued from the bag. Also, I don't have a car rack or side rails on my car, so I had to secure the straps through the doors. The straps took on quite a bit of the rain, leaving my boxes inside the car wet. This is not the manufacturer's fault, just an FYI for anyone looking to do the same. I also purchased an extra set of straps to ensure the cargo bag was secure. ... show more
