Really like these. Especially with covid need to have kids dressed in hockey gear before entering arena. No parents no locker rooms. 4 stars only because we get him dressed at home. My daughter has been asking for these for a while but I was nervous her skate would pop out and she'd end up stepping somewhere her skate shouldn't be. I was surprised at how secure these guards are. I can't see how they could ever come out unintentionally while skating around. Now her sister, along with the rest of her team, want a pair. ... show more

    • Problem with braking

This was purchased as a gift. First pair, brake snapped off within 6 uses. The roller skate guards were only being used to enter and exit the rink, not to “roller blade around as a toy”. Bought a second pair, it lasted about another week before the brake had broken again. Apparently the problem is the brake is not really suppose to be used as a brake. It’s just to slow you down ?? The concept is great since the kids need to be dressed prior to entering rink. Unfortunately the product can’t withstand minimal use. We still use them but I pull her with her hockey stick into the rink so she won’t lose control. Just a heads up, be careful not to skate fast as brake failure is likely to happen from my experience ... show more

    • BROKE WITHIN A WEEK!!!!

We had the first pair for about a year when it broke, just like the other reviewer wrote, so we got new ones week ago and IT BROKE AGAIN exactly the same spot, our son is 70lbs 8 year old!!!!

I was on the fence about buying this Rollergard Ice Skate Guard but having seen it on another kid after hockey practice I thought, why not? It's a little expensive at $59.99 but it's still cheaper and better than buying a dedicated roller skate that my son will outgrow within a year or less. So this was a nice alternative option. Because it has 4 wheels, it is more stable and less like skating than a normal roller blade but the fact that you can just throw this into your hockey back and put it on immediately after practice is perfect. I'm glad we got it and will be using it for years. Update. It's been a while but I finally got photos of him using it. He was a little nervous at first because it glides really quickly and he's not too sure how to stop. There is a runner ball on the back of the right skate that he's learning to use. He also has little feet so the roller skate is a bit too long but he's getting it! ... show more

These are great now that there is no locker room use with the Covid restrictions. My hockey players can roll right up to the ice, take off their guards and get on the ice. They get off the ice, put the guards on and roll out to the car.

Very fun for my son. Every rink that we go to, people comment on them. I don't think you can get them in stores. I tell everyone to buy them here on Amazon. They adjust to different size skates very well. My son's first skates were small, so after I adjusted these skate guards to fit, I didn't cut the extra plastic off (planning for his next size skate), but that was a mistake. He couldn't skate around well because of the extra length of plastic shooting out the back. So I cut it off the next day and they have been great. ... show more
