This means they can have a controlled break- up, which results in a smoother high frequency roll-off. Our Flexmotion Butyl Rubber Surrounds give the speakers a smooth response with minimal distortion. For smooth and extended high frequency sounds we used high temperature PEI dome tweeters with ferrite magnets. The RV series speakers are designed with superior SPL response and extremely high power handling making these perfect for use with the amp built into your receiver or with a high powered external amplifier. These sound good, and Rockville delivered them quickly. I found that the speaker terminals were a little bit flimsy and a few other details were not as 'solid' as I would have liked...but for the price they are great! I am going to use them for a little bit and see how I feel about them in the long run, but I may end up trying to get something a bit more powerful. The Rockville subwoofer (new K6) I am using in the system is so much better of a value, and sound so freakin amazing and I want the rest of the system to be on par with it...and these components, though pretty good, are not quite there. To be clear, it is not Rockville's fault...it was mine...for not investing in the right set of components for what I am trying to achieve in my car system. ... show more

For a cheap speaker, these things sound absolutely awesome! They seem well built, and the package comes with pretty much everything you'll need to mount it, including the right stencils for making the mounts!

This component set is actually better than a prior Rockville set I purchased that had a higher peak wattage rating. These were extremely easy to install, and for $40, the improvement over factory door speakers is night and day. I've had them blasting LOUD for 3 days now, and every day they seem to sound better and better. I'm running them with about 150 watts rms from a Rockville db45, which I'm also using to run my two Pioneer 12" woofers. I am powering these with a Pioneer GM-DX975 maxed out which should give them all they can handle for RMS. Doing a L/R comparison with my factory bose on the other side, these do not sound as good or as loud. Which is shocking, because it typically doesn't take much to sound better than bose. But these sound like they are missing a large spectrum of midrange frequencies. I may do a frequency sweep just out of curiosity. For the money though, I guess you could say they're pretty good. I wouldn't absolutely write these off for a complete budget build. But if you can spend more; do. ... show more

    • I could not believe the factory speaker sounded so much better! It drowned out the new speaker
The product was well packaged and arrived on time. 5 stars Amazon. I installed one speaker to test it against a factory speaker in the adjacent door. I could not believe the factory speaker sounded so much better! It drowned out the new speaker. The Rockville speaker apparently required more power. I have an aftermarket Sony head end that is rated at 14 watts per channel. The factory speakers provided more than enough full range audio. The Rockville speakers boast a high SPL rating that I find hard to believe. It's output was at least half of the factory speaker. I contacted Rockville to see what could be done so I didn't have to right this review. Well, their response was basically, just return it to Amazon for a refund. It's too bad, their specs had given me high expectations. I will not be purchasing from Rockville. Oh, by the way it was connected correctly and I tried both speakers. ... show more
