Description

Since day one, we have spearheaded the car audio revolution. Nothing has changed. Rockford Fosgate is still the global leader in audio innovation and your passion is our purpose. We engineer the best audio systems for your lifestyle. Note-led illuminates blue when the unit is turned on and red if a short circuit or low impedance is detected at the speaker connections or the amplifiers internal components become too hot engaging the protection. The amplifier will shut down to cool if this occurs. Mounting the amplifier in the passenger compartment will work as long as you provide a sufficient amount of air for the amplifier to cool itself. If you are going to mount the amplifier under the seat of the vehicle, you must have at least 1 inch of air gap around the amplifiers heatsink. Less than 1 inch of air gap around passenger compartment it will not provide proper cooling and will severely affect the performance of the amplifier, which is strongly not recommended. Avoid setting the amplifier gain very high as noise and distortion will increase significantly

  • Excellent Amp, RF fan now!
If your sub is cutting out, check your connections first... more on that below. This was a replacement for the PBR300X1 (exactly the same, less 200 watts) that I thought was shot. This amp is awesome! Currently powering a Rockford Fosgate P3 10 inch at 500watts/1ohm and sounding killer (in Honda Odyssey even)! Small footprint with lots of power. I have its sister amp for the main cabin speakers, using all Rockford Fosgate wiring/distribution blocks. The only cons I can find is the positioning of the switches and connections, but I guess that can't be helped if you want a small footprint (I use my van for work, so a big install wasn't an option). They do get hot, I added an 80mm fan for each amp (negative from fan into amp ground, positive into amp remote, gets power from the head unit that way & comes on with amps) in a custom box. I got the bass boost knob as well, I find that to be essential now that I have it (I'll be posting a separate review on that in a bit). Might actually replace the amp set-up in my other car... just to add a knob, lol. So, I had the 300 watt version installed with the hu, other amp and all wiring at a local shop a year or so ago. They put the amps and all cables IN the dash behind the head unit, against the heating duct! Yes these amps are small enough for that! Many many overheating shutdowns later, I finally reinstalled the whole thing, new cables and all. The sub started cutting out a couple days later, so I switched with the sub in my other car to test it. Still cut out in the van, so I thought the amp was fried, too late waiting to re-install, nuts. Got the new amp on sale here, installed it, same thing - sub cutting out?!?!? Replaced the sub (it was a cheapo intended to be replaced when I got money anyway, and I had money that day), still cut out with the new sub. One big plus with these amps is that you screw the wiring into terminals that you then plug into the amp (imo)... so I simply unplugged the amp. After a minute or two, the cabin speakers started doing the same thing (they had been occasionally popping since the re-install too - I should've caught it then, I know this stuff well). Checked my connections to discover 1) terminal connection on the battery was loose so the connection was flaky (huh?!? no idea how that happened), and 2) the ground I made was loose. I actually thought that may be a problem when I installed it (note: I put the amps behind the second row in my mini-van, I grounded under the carpet under the runner board, very thin metal, the screw simply came loose. My fix was to use a much bigger screw and thick tape to hold it in place too). I fixed these issues, been 2 weeks now sounding amazing with exactly zero issues! Oh, I plugged the old 300 watter in, and found it to be fine after all. So far I haven't had any issues with RF products at all (all the wiring in both my Mustang and Odyssey are RF as well.) ... show more

  • Good Compact Amp seems to be underrated in power - Used on Street Glide
Style: 4 Channel Size: 300 Watt
Hello All. This installation was on my 2012 Harley Street Glide with the HK Stereo setup. I removed the factory speakers and replaced it with these Rockford Fosgate T165 Power 6.5-Inch 2-way Coaxial Full-Range Speaker. This amp overpowers these speakers in this setup. The amp is supposed to be about 75-85RMS and the speakrs 70RMS. I have the gain down about 1/2 or less and it's still too powerful. Size: These speakers are pretty small and light, it can be mounted on top of the radio on your SG. This can mount nearly anywhere in a car as well. From a cooling perspective it does not appear to have any internal fans or the like. It does have a heatsink. I'm curious to see how this will hold up in the fairing with minimal ventilation on a hot day. Packaging: The unit comes some very basic items such as RCA hookups, Speaker output plugs...that's pretty much it. No mounting hardware or anything. I mounted this up using 3M double stick tape on top of my deck (coulda done better) but it's cheap, quick, and provides some vibration dampening. The box it ships in is very small, probably the size of an old VHS tape. Wiring and Hookups: I purchased the cheapo 10 Gauge wiring kit here on amazon. It comes with 10 gauge cable and is the minimum of what this amp requires. Actually if you are a serious autophile, you'd probably want to go with the 8 gauge kit. I'm only powering 2 speakers in this setup so I believe this will suffice. Link here for the 8ga kit (what i'd use if this was a car or if i was running all 4 speakers) Boss KIT-2 Complete 8 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit You can run high level or low level input (RCAs). If you run the high level, you don't need the remote hookup switch or wire. To use the high level, you simply cut the RCA connectors included off and hard wire in that way. I've heard on forums that this amp prefers being setup on a high level setup and not through the use of RCAs. I'm not sure of the logic on this. Adjustments. You can adjust the fronts and rears for high pass and low pass, or all pass. You can individually adjust the gain as well. In the case of the harley, the input is only two channels so you wouldn't use the other input even if you were to output 4 speakers Sound: This amp appears to overpower the speakers i selected. This is fine as I can just turn down the gain. For comparison, this setup now at middle volume is louder and more clear than the HK setup prior at full volume. I don't regret my purchase nor the 3-4 hours i spent hooking and wiring this up. Value: I've owned arc audio setups before. One was a 4 channel and the other was a 1 channel. I'd say for the money this amp has those beat, it costs less, it's actually smaller and sounds nearly as good. But if money isn't a factor, I would use the arc audio setup. ... show more

  • Best Off road amp for the money
Style: 4 Channel Size: 300 Watt
I would give it a ten if I could. The amp is amazing. The power is clean and loud it's small compact and easy to install. I paired it with fosgate 6.5 marine speakers and Ssv work pods. I installed it into a 2014 Polaris razor XP 1000. I searched everywhere and spent hours and hours calling people and even fosgate head quarters. The amp is 4 ohm stable only. So pair it correctly. The amp can get hot but keep it in a ventilated space and you'll be fine. I struggled finding something that worked well in the elements and sounded great. So I am posting this to help people make a good decision. Don't let audio shops tell you need more. Amps that run around three times the price won't do much and you'll waist the money. This will give JL audio. Kicker and alpine all a run for their money. Trust me if you purchase this you'll be glad you did. ... show more
