You cannot test it without running the boundary wire and connecting it to the base.
- SMART CONTROL: You have two ways to connect the phone app to the mower. Option one uses Bluetooth, and option two is WIFI connects it to your home network, and lets you program and control the automatic robotic lawn mower using a mobile app, It screens with a picture of the mower, its name, and the current battery level. You can rename it as you want. It is easy to program the schedule, pause and restart a mowing program during an active cycle.
- SAFETY FEATURES: Blue RR 500 auto mower has anti-collision sensors, keeping pets and children safe. The blades stop if the mower is picked up. I bought this for my dad several months ago and did a lot of research before landing here. He LOVES this robot, and his lawn looks better than ever! Of note: 1. There is not a specific zone or pattern programmable. Without a pattern, it's...not fast. 2. It recognizes boundaries and stays inside fences and on the grass. To prevent it crossing to their neighbors' side of the front yard, they put down a hose as a guide/boundary. 3. If grass is too long, it thinks it is an obstacle and avoids it. Best to run every couple days during peak season to avoid issues. 4. My dad is very cautious about outside temperature and will not run it above 90 degrees F outside. I believe that comes from his knowledge of electronics rather than explicit instruction from the manufacturer. 5. It is very helpful to have the backup battery! 6. He doesn't like to leave it unattended in the front yard in case somebody tries to steal it. 7. My parents' front yard is sloped pretty noticeably, and it has no issues with the slope. I would buy this again and again! Great purchase!

I bought two of these, one for my back yard and one for the front. One of them works ok, the other had problems. The company was very quick to resolve the issue. These were very easy to install, and the app is user friendly. I would not recommend these mowers as they are really very finiky. I’m constantly having to go out and reset it, which is a problem for me as I’m handicapped and in poor health. These would be ok otherwise, as they’re not as expensive as most. Update: This mower is terrible! Doesn’t work 90% of the time. It worked ok the first month, but now constantly has error codes, when there’s no error. Sometimes I can get it to work by unplugging it, then plugging it back in. You get what you pay for. These are cheap mowers that are made cheaply! The last two months have been extremely frustrating, especially as I am handicapped and have difficulty getting around to constantly reset it. I have a more expensive brand, Segway, in my back yard and have never had an issue.

Apparently there is not a single spot in my yard that is flat and level enough for it to work. The controls are not user friendly to be charitable. I have another brand robot that I love but wanted a small unit for a separate area. This was a total fail. Since I got it for Christmas and it is now April, it is past the return window. July - while I never did get it to work in my yard (which say more about me than the mower), the company has offered me a refund. I was very surprised and grateful. It says a lot about the company. The garage I bought with it is actually a great design.

Overall this has been an outstanding product. It has a few troubles which I'll outline in cons. I broke my ankle a few years back and have trouble with pain on uneven surfaces. I bought this as it was an affordable entry to test the robotic mower waters, and to see if it saves me from pain from mowing. It's been about a month into mow season and I am impressed. After the initial mow, that took about a week of 8hr runs daily, it keeps my back yard nice and trim. Initial set-up was not difficult, and running the wire was straight forward. Make sure to run a "test mow" after you get the boundary wire set. I had to reverse the wires due to the orientation of my dock so the mower knew where the inside of my lawn was. I did have to open the front caster wheels and reassemble them. If the front caster wheels slide on and off the shaft the snap rings were not pressed on the shafts well and popped off. Easy 5 min fix with a screwdriver. Open the wheel and start assembling it onto the shaft making sure the washers and bearings are in the order you took them off, then push the snap ring on and is secure. Pros: The app let's you set up a schedule for your mower. Once it gets the first cut down, up keep is easy with few hiccups. Definitely going to save for a higher end mower after how well this unit functions! Cons: The mower can get beached and run the battery out if it hits a deep enough dip at the right angle. As well as try to climb a tree if a root is inclined just right. The unit will from time to time not dock exact and cause the unit to not charge or show up on the app. If using a separate dock house secure the house. The mower may hit it and turn it blocking the dock causing the mower to run an endless loop returning to dock till the battery runs out. -=[The mower is a random path cuter. Not a traditional mow path. Not a pro or con]=- Overall if you have a small yard and are looking for an affordable entry level robotic lawnmower this is a great deal! I've only had to hit 2 or 3 small patch in my backyard with my push mower that the random path missed over the last month or so. It's quiet and so far the unit is pretty stout. It has payed for itself in the time I've saved and ankle pain I don't have from mowing my back yard. I'm going to be saving up for a high end robotic lawnmower for sure now! Awesome first robotic lawnmower if you are on the fence and curious if one it's right for you.

I bought this for my elderly mother so she wouldn't have to pay someone or wait on me to do it. It works great. You have to let it run for several hours. It isn't something you can just turn on after work and expect it done. When something like a tree is in the way, it turns about 30 degrees and mows straight so you have to just let it bounce around for hours. However if used like the instructions tell you everyday it does the job.

I love this little robot mower! We call it the "Blue Bug." It may not have a pattern to how it cuts your grass, but once it runs regularly and has the length caught up, you'll never even know. I have a fairly large backyard and I never have to mow myself. I realize how well it does work if I leave for a week and disable it... my grass will grow super fast. It does, once in a while depending on what's in your yard, get stuck on something, but that's very manageable. I did have it malfunction recently, and the company was great! They asked for a video of the problem, sent me the necessary part, and it was an easy fix. You don't always get that kind of customer service, especially when you are way past the return window. I have tried many of these mowers that are under $1k and this one was the one I liked best. The customer service makes it well worth the investment as well. :)
