I want to start off by saying that my apartment is on the whole top floor. My building is an old house that was converted to 4 apartments. Mine is the top floor and I feel the heat in the summers. So far, this air conditioner cools off my living room instantly. It is not loud. I work from home from my living room and no one hears it on my phone calls. Thank goodness my old cooler needed replaced just before a hot spell. Paid extra for earlier delivery so only had one awful hot night. Set up in about 10 minutes and was cooling right away. I really like the swing action which spreads the air around. My old one only had air coming out one way. I already love this portable air conditioner.     • This unit puts out cold air and is quiet.
I wasn’t familiar with the make of this AC unit, but the price was attractive, and so I thought I would take a chance. So far, it has worked well in my 450 square foot, upstairs bedroom, which gets hot in the summer. I like how the unit displays the room temperature when it is not running.

So, after many portable AC's purchased (and returned) to Amazon... THIS one is actually as described. Cold and Quiet. My wife and I were relieved when this thing actually came as described in the listing. You can actually have this in your bedroom at night without the noise waking you up.     • Measure your window before buying
Warning. The minimum window size to place the window kit in with the exhaust portion opened is 34 inches. So if your window is 33 or less, you're going to need to cut the adapter to fit. Doable, but not at all optimal. This isn't mentioned in any of the reviews, which along with all the Grammer errors, and nothing else but praise, makes most of these reviews suspect IMO. You'll also then need to seal the sides you cut or bugs can get in. Also note that you'll need to wait 24 hours after receipt before starting it up because if you or the shipper tilted it more than 45 degrees, (i. E. used a dolly) you have to let the oil flow back down to the bottom of the compressor or you'll damage it. Lastly, if you're buying this to run off a generator during a blackout, be aware it uses between 1080 and 1200 watts /hr when blowing cold air in AC mode. It drops all the way down to ~65 when the thermo kicks it off when your temp is hit, but that doesn't last very long. It runs full blast 1180 watts most of the time, especially if you're trying to cool down a large room. Otherwise it blows cold air and seems well built.
