RTG-84XLN-1 is a mid-efficiency outdoor natural gas tankless water heater designed for continuous hot water. Industry leading low flow activation with a minimum flow rate of .26GPM and minimum activation flow rate of .40GPM ensures hot water is received even in low demand situations. Ultra Low NOx burner meets SCAQMD rule requirements of safety with low emissions. While the exclusive Guardian Overheat Film Wrap prevents the unit from reaching the dangerous temperatures others can. Add in the maintenance notification settings, self-diagnostic system and EcoNet enabled mobile app feature (additional kit available), buying the RTG tankless water heater makes perfect sense. Included are a digital remote control and 10ft. of thermostat wire. As this unit is for use outdoors no venting is required. Best if used with up to 3 bathrooms; .81-.82UEF (.82EF Canada), 180,000BTU efficiency. Professional installation is required otherwise warranty void.

I had the older model from 2010 that finally died with either the fan motor or control board. Pricing these items would have cost almost as much as a new one, so I opted to replace the entire unit. This one was the exact size and all the piping and electrical connections were identical. After prepping the new one (using the same shut off valves and gas fittings), it took less than 2 hours to install!!!! Amazon's price was almost half of Home Depot and other internet vendors. I ordered it Monday, received it Tuesday evening, installed it Wednesday morning! Unlike some of the other reviews, mine came with only a small tear in the corner of the box (which was well padded inside)... not a dent or scratch! Very satisfied with the purchase! ... show more

My water heater started leaking in 4 months (Well within a manufacturer's warranty). I reached out to Rheem customer support team. They sent a technician to check. Technician said its leaking from heat exchanger so it can't be repaired and needs to be replaced and he said he will ask Rheem with his report. Next day Rheem told me to return it to Amazon. Amazon said its over 30days return policy and still within manufacturer's warranty. So manufacturer should take care of your issue. Amazon send me official emails explaining their policy which I shared with Rheem. after that Rheem went radio silent on me. whenever I call Rheem support. They say their supervisor will call me back in 24-48 hours. weeks gone by no one called me. I called them multiple times to check on status. Hearing same answer. Looks like they will delay and deny until I give up. :( ... show more

Works as it should but arrived very dented with signs of prior use. When I spend 1k on something I expect it to be new as advertised. If I wanted a refurbished unit I would have bought one. Again only reason it has 3 stars is because it was simple to install and works as it should.

Love that we were able to install it outside. This is not a DIY unless you REALLY know what you are doing. It is not a cheap install with a plumber. We did an open box with warehouse and saved $250. Give it a try.

We purchased this to replace our 20+ year old monstrosity of a tank hot water heater. The packaging and instructions are very very good. But I strongly suggest a professional to help install unless you have a construction background. The diagrams and written instructions are easy to follow and have a lot of troubleshooting tips. Our problem was our natural gas pressure was too high for this unit so we had to call in a professional to install a regulator for us. Other than that it runs great and has consistent water temperature. We also love that we were able to install it outside because we have a small home. Customer service was also very helpful to determine the issue to have our gas problem resolved. Overall very happy with our purchase. ... show more

Product arrived early and was concerned because the box was damaged. But heater was packed with extra padding and was not even scratched. Installing was easy but may need two people, heater is very heavy. Had it up and working in just a couple hours. Will definitely buy again if this one goes out.
