I tried to light this stove with paper, with lit paper, and with a short lighter and I couldn't get this going. I had to get out a long lighter to get the paper lit. I used paper and wood--little tiny sticks--to burn in the bottom, and once it lit it burned fine and was hot coming out the top without a lot of smoke. It got nice and hot quite quickly. Once I was done with it, it was easy to take apart and stash again. There wasn't a lot of soot or markings on the stove when it was cooled down enough to put away. The little bag it stores in holds it all nicely.

This camping stove is t of the heaviest quality but should get some good use for the novice camper or Boy Scout. You won’t be using this to cook yoir venison that’s for sure

I was dubious about its ability to be used as both a wood stove and a solid alcohol. I was pleased to discover that in both configurations, wood and alcohol, it felt very sturdy and could withstand a pot being placed on it. It also packs down very small which will be handy on many backpacking adventures. Since it is stainless steel the high temperatures from using it discolored it somewhat but that is expected. It is designed well and I was able to get a wood fire started up and kept going fairly easily. I don't have the heart to leave it in the rain to test just how stainless it is.

This stackable stove design has been around for a while. This particular stove is VERY well built. There are some extra-fine points to it, too. The instructions included are GREAT. This is a rare thing for imported camp stoves. They show how to rig it for borth fuel types... solid alcohol versus wood, etc. They also show you how to stow it back into the included mesh pouch. Very nice. The included pouch is not cheaply made. It is nice and padded. The stove itself has zero sharp edges. The double-wall section is an added bonus when you are using wood fuel. It doesn't specify much matter with solid alcohol fuel. When you fire this thing up with wood, though, the heat it produces and channels to your cooking vessel is impressive. One of my only real concerns from the get-go was the distance from the solid fuel bowl to the actual cooking vessel when rigged for this purpose. I used FIVE 4g esbit fuel tabs to try to bring a Stanley 2 cup cooking vessel with 28oz of room temperature water to a boil. It still didn't boil. I got to a maximum of 153 degrees Fahrenheit after over 16 minutes of waiting. (Wood fuel brought the same to boil in 9 minutes... outside and windy.) I held back one star from my review just for this reason. This is such a great stove and so well- planned that the distance to cook surface should be better or adjustable. Other than that, I do love this thing. It is sturdy and nicely balanced. I DO recommend it!
