... and bearing that in mind, this might be worth the small price. Be aware, however, that there are some serious compromises to this handheld. Firstly, it comes with a NES style controller that connects to the device with a square USB cable - but the controller does not function at all. It should not even be included, as there is no way to use it. The video output is RF, not HDMI. If you have a newer flat screen, you will not be able to use this with it. And even with the RF output, there is only a mono audio out on a single RCA connector. So if you happen to have a television with an RCA RF input, you will only get one side of the stereo making sound. Since the wired external controller does not work, if you do get this wired to a larger screen you are stuck with a three foot RF cable. So you'll be sitting very close to the screen while you tap on the device. It's a bit uncomfortable. As for the games, well, there really aren't 400 games here. For example, 'chess', 'chess2', chess3' and 'reverse' are all the same game - Othello. Not even different versions of that game, just the same title with different names. Also, games 51-54 are the same as games 363-366. I'm sure there are more redundancies, but these are what I found after about ten minutes. A handful of titles are only in Chinese, with no option for translation. That might not matter to you, but it's worth being aware of. The naming conventions can also be confusing. Calling Othello 'chess', for example. If you select the game called 'Dots', you get the original Pac-Man for another example. So finding titles can be a bit hit-or-miss. Finally, a lot of these games are very difficult with the controller and small low-resolution screen. Essentially, action games are too frustrating to be effectively played if small sprites are difficult to see. All that said, it is very inexpensive. It might be worth it for you, since it is rechargeable (but save the charge cable it comes with, since the charge input is an old square USB connector - think Garmin Nuvi GPS type) and the charge lasts about five hours, longer if you turn the sound off. I do play Othello on it time to time, and I am still exploring titles. Not bad for the price - but don't expect it to punch above its price point. In fact, an old Gameboy Advance running Advance Wars is more entertaining than this whole kit. Still, that system and game was at a premium price. This is clearly not, and for what it costs, it may just entertain you for a few hours. As long as you know what to expect going in, this is worth the nominal cost. ... show more

This is a throw away item.....Bought two of these for my grandsons for Christmas. Both in the garbage already and they weren't even used that much! Probably lasted a total of 3-4 hours before the screens stopped working. If you don't mind tossing money in the trash then this is for you. The media could not be loaded. For under $14, you get a bunch of classic games, including a few decent ones! There’s a volume control, the second controller, and an option to connect to your television, but 8-bit games (regardless of what system you use) look pretty terrible on an HD TV. I connected this to an old TV/VCR with the included video out cable and had some good old nastalgia playing Super Mario, and with the game controller, it added even more enjoyment. This is a lot of fun, but limited in use, there a lot of games on this which is a lot of fun, there are known games and many games I have never heard of. Thes are game of my childhood, so that is a lot of fun, but there are some frustrations with this also, there are a lot of games that are missing, and the order of the games are random, it is A-Z for a short list, then a second list of A-Z instead of putting them all in alphabetical order. It would be great if you could save your progress, the raspberry pi has a save function with retro-pie. I would love to be able to have games like zelda, life force, and other well known games. This comes with a mini USB charger cable and the control is also mini USB. It would be nice to have at least micro USB for the charging cable and the controller to have the same. Access to internal memory to add my own games and put the games in order would be great. This has so much potential that is wasted in the limitations. ... show more
