I'm quite comfortable with swinging a 15 lb club, so I've got a 10 and 15 lb maces. And at the moment, a 15 is way too heavy for me, even for 2-handed work. So get a 10 as your first mace. Retrospec maces are well made, just like their clubbells. Shafts are 1 1/2" thick with good knurling, balls and endcaps are welded. There's a slight rattling inside both shafts (likely some manufacturing debris trapped forever) which doesn't bother me. Why did I rate it 4 stars? The shafts are waaaaay too long for my liking. For example, if you grab it by the middle, you won't be able to pass the shaft under your arm, which would limit the amount of fancy stuff you can do with these maces. And you'll have to choke it up to make loads tolerable on many other exercises, due to an increased lever length. Perhaps one day I'll apply some hacksaw and elbow grease to alleviate the problem… Another reason for a 4-star rating: sizing chart is incorrect. While 15 lb indeed has a 1 1/2" shaft, on a 10 lb one it's actually 1 1/4". ... show more

My abs and shoulders have never been more sore! I love this thing! A word of caution for first time users: my hands felt almost strained or sprained for a few days after the first time I used it. Its easy to wrench your hand in the wrong position. After I looked up proper form that didn't happen anymore, but I would definitely research proper form before using it extensively. ... show more

This mace is absolutely fantastic for working out. I know I ordered the lighter weight to start just so I can practice the exercises and get a solid foundation for working out with it but I'm definitely ordering the 15 and 25 lb mace on my next order.

Great quality ! I love the beveled grips on the button and middle high of the handle. This mace has quickly become my best friend. Highly recommend, especially if you’re involved in martial arts or combat sports , as it’s a great way to improve shoulder mobility and range of motion
